Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Three days later, I met Alpha Marcus at the
Elders‘ Council.
He looked haggard, like he had aged a decade in just a few days.
When he saw me, a flicker of light crossed his lifeless eyes as if he wanted to say something,
but he faltered.
I raised my hand to stop him, too tired to even exchange a word; I just gave him a pointed look, urging him to get on with the formalities.
In front of the Elders, I officially severed my
mate bond with Alpha Marcus.
I had to follow tradition and say the words:
“I, Aria, reject you, Marcus, as my mate.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt the mark on my neck start to burn–it was the sign
that the mate mark was being broken.
Alpha Marcus twitched in pain; I could sense his
power rapidly draining away, a consequence of the rejection.
“Good riddance!” Selene said coldly. “This is

“Good riddance!” Selene said coldly. “This is
the price of betrayal!”
Twenty minutes later, I walked away with the proof of severance, smiling as I said goodbye.
Just as I stepped through the door, I spotted Isabella waiting right outside.
Her once exquisite face was now devoid of its former glow, her hair disheveled, looking like a stray dog.
Meanwhile, I was dressed neatly and confidently, and the moment our eyes met, I
felt an immense sense of empowerment.
I realized that a woman’s strength doesn’t solely come from the affection of a man; even on my own, I could live my life to the fullest.
To my surprise, it seemed like Isabella hadn’t been expecting to run into him.
When Alpha Marcus saw her, he froze, clearly caught off guard.
A look of disgust flashed across his face,
reminiscent of how he once looked at me.

Outside the Elders‘ Council, people were passing by when Isabella suddenly rushed toward Alpha Marcus, crying out for him, causing a crowd to gather, ready to watch the spectacle.
As the onlookers multiplied, Isabella clung to Alpha Marcus’s leg and started to throw a fit.
From her fragmented sobs, I pieced together that she was pregnant and was trying to
blackmail Alpha Marcus into marrying her.
It seemed that the herbal remedy I had sent
them hadn’t had the desired effect after all.
The whispers from the gathering crowd started to annoy Alpha Marcus, and when Isabella hurled a particularly derogatory insult at him, he snapped.
He grabbed her by the hair, yanking her up.
He had completely lost it, blinded by rage.
Isabella screamed and tried to run away, but he didn’t care; he yanked her back and kicked her
hard in the stomach,

He went wild, pinning Isabella to the ground and unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks to
her abdomen.
Isabella cried out in agony, blood pooling underneath her–an alarming sight.
In the chaos, I calmly dialed the city guards using my communication crystal.
At the same time, I sent the surveillance evidence I had prepared to the messengers
from various packs.
I had carried the weight of that incident for far too long; it was time to reveal the truth.
“Good job! Let everyone see the real faces of these two jerks!” Selene cheered in my mind.
Having completed my mission, I no longer focused on Isabella’s fate; I quietly turned around, weaving through the crowd, leaving without a glance back.
On the other side of the crowd, Alpha Adrian was waiting for me patiently,
As I approached, he reached out his hand, and

“Is it over?” he asked softly.
“It’s over,” I nodded, feeling the warmth of his
palm.
“We’re free! We can be with our true destined
mates!” Selene cheered joyfully within me.
“Then, my Luna, will you give me a chance?” Alpha Adrian looked at me with deep affection.
I smiled and nodded, “I will, my Alpha.”
He gently kissed the back of my hand, and in that moment, I felt a sense of safety and happiness I had never known before.
This is what true love is no need for humility,
no need to settle, just two hearts that genuinely
care for each other.
