Chapter 7
Sophia whipped her head around to glare at Mason, disbelief etched in her eyes.
“Mason, you’re actually defending her?”
Mason met Sophia’s gaze with a calm
demeanor.
“Sophia, just cooperate with the investigation. If you’re innocent, the Enforcers of the Pack Alliance will clear your name.”
Sophia let out a sudden laugh, twisted with a
hint of malice.
“Mason! I’m supposed to be your future mate. Don’t you think you should trust me unconditionally?”
Mason opened his mouth, managing a weak
smile.
“Five years ago, you told me Wendy was with me because she wanted to repay a debt or for
the Blackstone Pack’s money, and I believed

you.”
“Now I realize how utterly wrong I was. I didn’t trust what I saw with my own eyes. Instead, I bought into your lies.”
“Was I wrong?” Sophia retorted, her eyes red. with emotion. “Why else would she go to the beach every day to be near you if it weren’t for the Blackstone Pack’s money?”
“She was paying back Old Luna Julia’s
kindness! Wendy never accepted any expensive gifts from me, nor did she ever take money transfers,” Mason stated firmly.
Sophia sneered coldly.
“Anyone can pretend to be noble. She just wants to become Luna of Blackstone, so she can rightfully spend the pack’s money!”
“Sophia!” Mason’s hand lashed out, slapping
her. His voice trembled.
“Are you still going to slander Wendy? Do you realize what I have lost?”

“I’ve been searching for her for five years! It was you who told me that when she realized she couldn’t get money from me, she left me…”
Sophia covered her face as tears fell.
“Alpha Mason, do our eight years together
mean less to you than the three years with Wendy? What’s so special about her?”
Mason bowed his head, a pained smile on his
lips.
“You’re right; matters of the heart are impossible to explain.”
While they quarreled, Robert had finished speaking with the enforcers from the Pack. Alliance. Seeing them ready to take Sophia away, Mason suddenly rushed forward.
“What exactly did you message Wendy back
then?”
Sophia paused for a moment, then offered at cryptic smile. “Take a guess.”
Mason stood frozen as he watched her being

“Investments are off the table. From this day forward, the Nightfall Pack and Blackstone Pack will cease all cooperation.”
Ignoring Robert’s warning, Mason pressed on.
“Wendy, let’s talk. All these years, it’s been a misunderstanding. I’ve always loved you. If I truly wanted to mate with Sophia, why would I
have held off until now?”
I was in no mood for his explanations. From the corner of my eye, I saw Robert’s dark expression as he adjusted his cuffs–a sign of his brewing anger.
“Enough!” I snapped, my voice cutting through the air like a whip. “I’m married. I have a child. Don’t you think this is ridiculous?”
But Mason grew visibly agitated.
“No, it’s not too late! I’m still single. You can still sever the mate bond-”
Before he could finish, Robert’s fist crashed into
his face.
Blood trickled from the corner of Mason’s
south but he didn’t strike back Je just stared

at Robert with defiance.
“Sever the mate bond?” Robert’s voice was cold
and lethal. “You want my mate to divorce me- right in front of me?”
He grabbed Mason by the collar, his tone menacing. “Why don’t you kill me first? Maybe then, as a widower, you’d stand a chance.”
Robert was infamous in the Pack Alliance as a battle–hardened warrior. A ruthless Alpha.
Five years ago, he singlehandedly saved me from a rogue ambush–didn’t let a single hair on my head get touched.
Mason, the well–mannered gentleman, was never going to stand a chance.
I quickly threw my arms around Robert’s neck.
“Robert, let it go. We finally got a chance to enjoy a day out as a family.”
“Honey, be good,” he said, giving my cheek a light squeeze, though his eyes were still ice–cold. “Someone tries to take my Luna, and I let it slide? The other Packs would laugh us out of the Alliance.”

I had no choice but to step aside.
If I didn’t let him blow off some steam now, he’d spend the next two weeks finding new ways to make me prove I loved him.
That’s just how Alpha Robert was–decisive and dominant in public, yet painfully insecure in love.
Seeing us so close sent Mason into a fury. Veins bulged at his temples as he charged forward, fists clenched.
But he didn’t even touch Robert’s shirt before a swift roundhouse kick sent him crashing to the ground. He lay there groaning, unable to get up.
“That’s it?” Robert sneered. “You won’t get to touch a single strand of my wife’s hair. Not in this life or the next.”
Mason looked at me, pain twisting his features. “Wendy…”
Without a word, Robert scooped me up into his arms and muttered against my ear, his voice laced with warning.
“Tonight, your punishment’s doubled.”

In the end, we decided the hotel had
crossed a line. The way they handled things -disrespecting us, our family–it was unforgivable.
We flew back to our Pack that same day.
As soon as we landed, a message came in from the Pack Alliance’s police.
Sophia and the hotel staff were found guilty of false accusations. Fifteen days in detention.
But Robert’s brows remained furrowed the entire way home. Even when playing blocks with Elias, his mind was clearly elsewhere.
“Honey,” he said suddenly, setting down at piece, “I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve seen Sophia somewhere before.”
I rolled my eyes. “She’s a high–profile attorney in the Pack Alliance. And a damn influencer with a hundred thousand followers. Of course she looks familiar.”
“Not from her livestreams,” Robert murmured, resting his chin on his knuckles. “I think… I saw her that night. Five years ago. In the alley- when I rescued you.”
