Chapter 8
Robert took the matter seriously, secretly sending someone to investigate all of Sophia’s details from the past ten years.
When the investigation results were laid before us, my body could not stop trembling, and I felt a chilling coldness engulf me..
It turned out that after Mason and I broke up all those years ago, the group of rogue werewolves that ambushed me in the alley were not just intent on humiliating me; they planned to sever my hand.
All of it had been orchestrated by Sophia from the shadows.
I had always thought it was simply a random attack, and after the rogue werewolves had been judged, I hadn’t pursued the matter further. Who would’ve guessed that Sophia was so vicious that she was willing to destroy me completely to win Mason?
Robert held me tightly in his arms, his voice gentle yet unwavering.
“Honey, it’s okay IIL–I
Chapter 8
“Honey, it’s okay. I’ll always protect you.”
Finally, I couldn’t hold back and cried out in his embrace.
During those dark days, I curled up in my room, not eating or drinking, lost in a fog of despair.
Robert stayed by my side without a moment’s rest, accompanying me through every long night.
Mason once saw me as his salvation, but who knew Robert was the true moonlight in my life?
“Robert, thank you for always being there for me,” I whispered softly, leaning against his
shoulder.
Our story was quite simple.
In high school, I was a poor student working several part–time jobs to make ends meet, while he was the heir, the most esteemed Alpha
at our school.
He told me that at some point, watching my frail figure always stirred a feeling of heartbreak
in him.
Chapter 8
Until we reunited in that dark alley, he never realized that he wished to protect me for a lifetime.
“Mama!” Our little son Elias ran up with his tiny legs, grabbing onto my leg, “Elias wants a hug
too!”
Robert groaned, picking up the little pup and pretending to scold him, “You little rascal, don’t. interrupt your mom and dad while they’re having a romantic moment.”
We handed over all evidence to the werewolf
alliance’s court, and Sophia soon faced legal retribution. Eventually, an anonymous source revealed that her law credentials had been
fabricated. Her streaming account was banned, and a wave of denunciation swept across the
internet.
Eager online sleuths uncovered her past inappropriate relationship with a mentor while studying abroad with other packs, and only after their breakup did she decide to return to
the Blackstone Pack.
I thought the storm would settle, allowing me
to return to my tranquil work life.
Chapter 8
Until one evening, as I walked out of the pack hospital, I saw Alpha Mason standing there with a wooden box. The box was filled with seashells, glistening faintly in the sunset.
His eyes were red–rimmed as he trembled, taking out one to hand to me:
“Wendy, they’ve always been here. I didn’t throw them away.”
He forced a smile, “Just like old times… I give you shells, and you smile at me, okay?”
I didn’t stop, walking straight past him.
“Wendy!”
He called out with a choked voice, sobbing: “I can’t live without you, forgive me, won’t you? We were so in love…”
Tears fell on the shells, and he hurriedly wiped them, reminiscent of the forlorn pup by the
seaside years ago.
Yet some things, once missed, are like shells left behind by retreating tides, never to be found
again.
Chapter 8
I sighed softly:
“Alpha Mason, throw all these shells away. We’ve grown up; we don’t need them anymore.”
He shook his head, tears streaming down, his throat working silently.
For the first time in five years, I looked at him
with calm eyes:
“The Wendy who loved you died in that dark. alley a long time ago. Every time I see you, I’m reminded of those rogue werewolves‘ savage.
laughs…”
“Your pup should be four by now, right? With Sophia in prison, the pup can’t be without a
father. Don’t waste time with me.”
His pupils contracted sharply, stumbling back a few steps, nearly falling to the ground.
“Rogues? Pup?”
Lignored him, turning to get into the car Robert
sent.
He had always wanted to know what Sophia
Chapter 8
had shown me back then.
It was a video.
In the video, Sophia was smiling, claiming she was pregnant, while Alpha Mason joyfully twirled her around: “I’m going to be a dad!”
Counting the time, surely the pup should be over four years old by now?
Mason never came to look for me again.
Shortly after, the news “Blackstone Pack’s Economic Collapse” quietly broke out on pack. social platforms.
Following the Nightfall Pack’s announcement of terminating cooperation, other packs followed suit, rapidly crumbling the Blackstone Pack’s
economy.
Accompanying the bankruptcy news was the disappearance of Blackstone’s Alpha..
Witnesses reported seeing him alone by the sea, crying and laughing, after which there was
no trace of him.
A week later, I received an anonymous letter.
Chapter 8
The familiar handwriting could only belong to
Mason.
“Wendy:
By the time you read this letter, I should be already dead.
Our regrets can only end in this manner.
Don’t blame yourself; you saved me once, but I let you slip away.
Sophia and I have no pup… the video was her saying she needed to perform at the pack’s celebration and I had to help her act.”
I quietly read through it, folding the letter into a small boat, gently setting it afloat in the sea.
“Alpha Mason, I neither love nor hate your anymore. May you face no regrets in your next life.”
The End.
Book 2:
I am Sylvie, the only daughter of the Alpha of
Chapter 8
After my mother passed away, my aunt, who had married Alpha Rex of the Blood Moon Pack, took me under her wing and brought me to their pack to personally look after me.
Alpha Rex really liked me–or, to be more precise, he liked the power behind the Silver Moon Pack that came with me.
Ever since I was a little kid, he would often have
me sit on his lap and point at his sons, saying,
“In the future, whoever our little Sylvie wants to
choose as her mate, I’ll officiate the ceremony.
myself.”
“Wouldn’t it be nice for our little Sylvie to stay with the Blood Moon Pack? That way, you could see your Aunt Isabella every day.”
In my previous life, I foolishly fell for Emil, the son of the former Luna of the Howlfang Pack. I even helped him settle the power struggles among his brothers, paving the way for him to become the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack.
And what did he do? As soon as he became Alpha, he turned on me and set his minions loose to massacre my Silver Moon Pack.
Chapter 8
The blood–it was like a river!
Just before I lost consciousness, he snarled through gritted teeth, “If it weren’t for you, you meddlesome woman, I wouldn’t have lost my
Julia!”
“When she got sick and died, I couldn’t even shed a single tear for her! The pain she felt- I’m going to make you and your people suffer tenfold!”
“Your Silver Moon Pack has been wiped out; does it hurt your heart? Haha, they all died because of you! This is the punishment you deserve, you woman unblessed by the Moon
Goddess!”
When fate gave me a second chance and took. me back to the day Alpha Rex asked me to choose my future mate, I didn’t hesitate to
point to my aunt’s son, the third–in–line James, and clearly stated, “I choose James as my
mate.”
