Vanessa’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t believe I was so calm.
The last time I’d caught her flirting with Dom–just a kiss at his birthday—I’d followed her to the studio in tears, making a scene and demanding Dom fire her. But he’d protected her, even giving her the lead in his agency’s biggest campaign as a peace offering.
No wonder she’d climbed the Hollywood ladder so quickly, landing roles opposite A–listers despite her mediocre talent.
“You know what they say about a man’s favorite toy,” she smirked. “One snap of
my fingers and Dom will drop you faster than last season’s trends.”
“Is that why you became famous playing home–wreckers in those Lifetime movies? Method acting at its finest. Your fans should know you’re not acting—just being yourself. Would they love you more for your authenticity?” I replied, scrolling
through Instagram instead of giving her my full attention.
“You bitch-” she snarled, raising her hand to slap me.
I caught her wrist mid–air, surprised by how little strength she had. “What’s wrong? All that energy in Dom’s bed, but nothing left for a real fight?”
I gripped her chin, studying the face that had graced dozens of magazine covers. She was beautiful in that fragile, wide–eyed way that made men want to protect her–a look she’d perfected.
“Go ahead, cry. Let’s see if your precious Dom comes running,” I challenged.
On cue, tears welled in her eyes.
She was pathetically weak, having maintained that size zero figure by living on celery and Diet Coke. I hit the gym four times a week and could easily overpower her. She resorted to clawing at my hand with her acrylic nails, leaving angry red
scratches.
“What the hell is going on?” Dom demanded, appearing from the hallway. He found me pinning Vanessa against the wall, my hand at her throat.
“Dom, help me,” Vanessa whimpered, collapsing into his arms and promptly “fainting.”

Dom saw the red marks on her neck and turned on me. “Jesus, Olivia! If you have issues, take them out on me. Vanessa has nothing to do with this. What if you’d really hurt her?”
“She’s faking,” I said, blowing on the scratches she’d left on my hand. “Are you really that blind?”
I walked over to a side table and picked up a crystal vase. “Since I’m already the
villain in this little drama, might as well make it worth it.” I raised the vase as if to
bring it down on Vanessa’s head.
Right on cue, her eyes flew open in panic.
I set the vase down with a laugh. “Wow. And they say the standard of acting in
Hollywood is slipping.”
