Shalane bit back her tears and yanked Galvin away, pulling him toward his father.
With a deep sadness in her eyes, she looked at Brent.
“Brent, I love you, so I won’t make things hard for you. You and Camryn should live a good life together. It’s just… Galvin and Devin might take some time to get used to being without me. Don’t be too harsh on them, okay? Be patient, comfort them, and they’ll eventually get used to it.”
She wiped the corner of her eye, forced herself to turn away, and pretended to leave.
Brent was still struggling with his emotions when Galvin suddenly let out a loud wail and yelled something so shocking.
“Mommy, don’t leave me! I want to find my daddy!”
He clenched his little fists and swung at Brent.
“You’re a bad man! Go away! I want my daddy!”
Shalane spun around in panic, quickly covering Galvin’s mouth.
Her eyes darted nervously to Brent.
At that moment, it was like a thunderclap went off in Brent’s mind. He looked carefully at the two kids.
Brent had left London two days after they were born–barely had time to kiss them goodbye.
By the time he saw them again, a hundred days had passed.
er
What father would suspect that the children he had been there for, from prenatal checkups to birth, weren’t his?
Brent’s face went deathly pale. His fingers trembled as he pointed at Shalane.
“Who is Galvin looking for?
“Who’s his father?”
Moments later, the doctor arrived, drew blood, and rushed a DNA test.
Shalane lost it, screaming at Brent for being ruthless and heartless. She cursed him for doubting his own children, saying that this humiliation would ruin Galvin’s future and that no child of high society could survive with such a stain on their name.
But Brent didn’t say a word. He just had the bodyguards hold Shalane down and let the doctor take his blood. His face was as cold as a winter night.
An hour later, the results came back.
Galvin and Devin had no blood relation to him.
Galvin was related to Shalane.
Devin wasn’t related to her at all.
Brent staggered, collapsing onto the floor. His voice was hoarse when he finally spoke.

Brent staggered, collapsing onto the floor. His voice was hoarse when he finally spoke.
“Shalane, where… where the hell is my child?”
His gaze was terrifying–cold, dark, merciless. A chilling smirk tugged at his lips, but he said nothing more.
Then, in the next instant, he lunged. His hands wrapped around Shalane’s neck, squeezing until she nearly passed out. It took several bodyguards to pry him off her.
In the end, Brent sent Shalane straight to the police station–charged with child kidnapping.
The next day, Shalane finally confessed.
Turns out, after graduating college, she struggled to find a good job. That’s when she crossed paths with Brent, whose career was soaring.
When she found out he and his wife had decided not to have kids, Shalane devised a long–term plan.
She stayed by Brent’s side, always considerate but never overstepping, playing the role of the perfect junior classmate and the thoughtful little sister. She cooked meals for him, made soup, and tended to him like she cared.
And then, one drunken night, she stayed with him till morning.
Later, she brought him to see her critically ill mother. The old woman held her daughter’s hand, sobbing uncontrollably, saying she would die with regrets–never getting to see her daughter marry and have children.
That night, Shalane downed a whole bottle of whiskey, clinging to Brent and crying her
heart out.
Brent had been drinking too. Caught up in the moment, he made a reckless promise–he’d give her a child.
That was the night it happened.
The next morning, Shalane knelt before him, swearing she would never interfere in his life and that she’d leave after giving birth.
Half a month later, she was pregnant.
At the time, she thought it was fate–getting pregnant after just one night.
But how could she not?
She had already arranged everything through an underground network. The moment Brent passed out drunk, she implanted herself with fertilized embryos. To be safe, she had two implants.
And the children Brent had been caring for all this time?
They weren’t his.
One belonged to Shalane.
The other–to her lover.
When the truth hit, Brent broke.

He shut himself in the dark, refused to eat or drink, and abandoned his company
altogether.
