I had no idea that because Bruno was scrambling to make up for the lost shares, the company’s finances started to falter to the point that a big project was stalled. He had been out looking for investors everywhere.
Nor did I know that Liam’s older brother had taken notice of all this.
James Carter was dressed in a sharp suit as he accompanied Bruno to my old home. Bruno had been living there since I left.
“Mr. Carter, about that investment…”
Bruno hesitated to make his request. He didn’t understand why the meeting was at his home instead of his office, but guessed maybe it was to show sincerity.
Thinking logically, Bruno said, “The Carter family and Elshine Corporation have always been close. Of course you’ll get the biggest share of the project.”
James took a good look at Bruno. Without much expression on his face, he said, “There’s no need for such manners. I’m only
here because of Charles.”
He had made deals with Charles in business before, and had helped him out twice. He didn’t want to see go under as well

Bruno’s expression darkened, but he nodded. “Yes. She’s my fiancee. We had a bit of a misunderstanding and she’s been avoiding me, but I think she’ll be back soon.”

After discussing the business a little more, they signed the contract.
As he was about to leave, James’s gaze fell on a framed painting on the table. “Did you paint this?”
Bruno, taken aback, shook his head. “My wife painted it.”
Even if the wedding had never happened, Bruno still considered Aelia his wife.
After all, whether it was the shareholders or business partners, they were all there for Charles’s sake. Bruno had to marry
Aelia, no matter the cost. Yet, that woman just didn’t appreciate it.
He frowned, hiding his discontentment.
James calmly pointed to the painting “Mind if I take this?”
Bruno was a little flattered “Of course not. I’m sure my wife would be happy for you to have it ”
James took the painting, nodded, and left Just as he stepped outside, he happened to see a pregnant woman who looked about ready to give birth
He just assumed she was a neighbor and didn’t pay her any mind
Because of that, James didn’t see the argument between her and Bruno as soon as he got into the elevator
He simply pulled out his phone and sent his brother a message
“Liam, send me a photo of your favorite painting by that artist you have your eyes on lately”
