Clara’s POV
is
After the severing ritual, under my grandfather’s protection, I felt no discomfort at all.
My birthday celebration was held in the castle garden.
Moonlight cascaded over white–linen tables, and champagne sparkled in crystal flutes.
I wore a gown the color of liquid moonlight, basking in a happiness I thought I’d lost forever.
“To Clara’s new life!” Grandfather raised his glass.
“To freedom!” Asher also raised his, his eyes full of blessings.
“To the future!” I said with a smile.
The chime of crystal on crystal was as clear and sweet as angel bells.
This was the first time in three years I had felt truly happy.
No fear, no pain, no betrayal.
Only people who loved me and hope for the future.
“Clara,” Asher whispered in my ear, “you look so beautiful right now.”
“Is it the glow of freedom?” I joked.
“It’s because you’ve finally become your true self,” he answered seriously.
I looked at him, moved, a warmth spreading through my chest
Asher always knew the right words to heal my heart.
ever.
But just as we were about to cut the birthday cake, a loud noise came from the direction of the castle gate.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Someone was ramming the gate.
“Clara!” a familiar, desperate voice echoed through the night. “I know you’re in there! Come out and face me!”
It was Kael’s voice.
“I don’t consent to the dissolution!” his voice was hysterical and mad. “Do you hear me? I don’t consent!”
My grandfather’s face instantly darkened.
“Have the guards get rid of him,” he ordered coldly.
“No need,” I put down my fork. “Let me handle this.”
“Clara…” Asher looked at me with concern.
“It’s okay.” I stood and smoothed my dress. “Whatever needs to end, will end completely tonight.”
We arrived at the castle gate.
Kael stood outside, looking even more disheveled than a few days ago.
His clothes were stained with blood, his eyes filled with desperation and madness.

“Clara!” He rushed to the iron gate as he saw me. “I don’t consent to the dissolution!”
“Kael, the severing ritual is done,” I said calmly. “You have no right to object.”
“I have every right! I am your Alpha!” He gripped the iron bars, the searing pain of the broken mate bond a fresh agony inside
him. “You can’t abandon me!”
“I’m not abandoning you,” I looked at him coldly. “You abandoned our relationship three years ago.”
“No!” he shook his head frantically. “I can make it up to you! I can change! Give me a chance!”
“Kael, enough.” Asher stepped to my side, a dangerous light in his eyes. “Clara has already given you her answer.”
“And who are you?” Kael glared at Asher “What right do you have to interfere in our business?”
“I am her protector,” Asher said coldly. “And the one who truly loves her.”
“Love her?” Kael scoffed. “You’ve known her for what, a few months? I was with her for three years!”
“Yes, and you tortured her for three years,” Asher’s wolf began to radiate a heavy pressure. “And I will spend the rest of my life healing her.”
The standoff between the two Alphas made the air thick with tension.
But just then, the roar of engines echoed from a distance.
Several black armored vehicles sped toward them, the emblems of the werewolf enforcers gleaming in the moonlight.
“Kael Silvermoon!” the lead enforcer jumped from a vehicle. “You are under arrest for assault with intent to do grievous
bodily harm! Surrender immediately!”
Kael’s face went pale.
“What assault?”
”
“You severely injured Selene. She is now in critical condition!” the enforcer said grimly. “Under werewolf law, you must
return to North America to stand trial!”
“I…” Kael tried to argue, but the words caught in his throat,
He had hurt Selene, and hurt her badly.
“Come with us,” two enforcers stepped forward, ready to cuff him with silver chains.
“No,” Kael suddenly backed away. “I can’t go.”
“Why not?”
“Because if I go, I’ll never see Clara again,” he looked at me desperately. “She’ll disappear from my life completely.”
“That’s exactly what I want,” I said coldly.
“No!” Kael suddenly threw his head back and howled. “I won’t let that happen!”
The next moment, he threw his head back and let the change take him, bones snapping and reforming as he fully shifted into a massive silver wolf.
“Get him!” the lead enforcer shouted.
But Kael had already broken through their ranks, darting like lightning toward the dark forest behind the castle.
“Don’t let him get away!”
The enforcers immediately shifted and gave chase, their howls echoing through the forest, startling countless birds into the
