he conference room fell into an eerie silence. This time, it was Adrian who had a breakdown.
His eyes were bloodshot as he gripped Lillian’s shoulders tightly. “Lillian, give me an explanation. Give me a damn explanation!”
Lillian screamed and shook off his hands. “Explain what? What do you want me to explain? Didn’t you say you’d protect me for the rest of your life? Is your so–called protection supposed to mean I clip my wings and live under your shelter forever? I have my own company, my own career. Shouldn’t you be happy for me? Why are you looking at me like that? Do you want to kill me because you found out I stole your business partner?”
The board members were furious, yet Lillian continued to accuse him. Adrian finally lost his mind and slapped Lillian
hard across the face.
After the crisp sound of the slap, Adrian’s sanity barely returned. He stared at Lillian in a daze, then reached out his hand, wanting to touch her face.
Tears instantly streamed down Lillian’s face. Without saying a word, she pushed Adrian away and ran out crying.
Adrian panicked and said, “Meeting adjourned.” Then he rushed out after her.

Chapter 7
+2 Bonus
I picked up the car keys I had placed on the table earlier and said, “Don’t worry, everyone. I’ll go check on them.” Then I followed them out.
Adrian’s car tailed Lillian’s car as they sped through the downtown area. I was behind them, closely following Adrian’s car. The three cars raced through several red lights at high speed–it was extremely dangerous.
Lillian’s car headed toward the suburbs, and traffic gradually thinned out. The next intersection was coming up. I seized the opnity and called Adrian. After three attempts, he finally

Without giving him a chance to speak, I spoke with exceptional clarity: “Adrian, I personally rejected the collaboration with the Stella Group.”
Immediately, I hit the brakes and watched coldly as a large truck barreled out from the cross lane without any sign of slowing
down.
Lillian’s car sped through the intersection at full speed, but Adrian’s brake lights suddenly flashed for one second. In that split second, the truck crashed into Adrian’s car at full speed with a tremendous impact.
