Chapter 8
If I wasn’t already dead, I would probably be scared witless by how Emily was acting, but now?
I was too tired to care.
Emily stepped closer, her sharp, silver dagger glinting as she moved. Seeing that a majority of my body had already turned to
seafoam made her laugh with glee, and she reached to scoop me out of the water.
The moment my body came into contact with the air, I started dissolving even faster.
“Die, Marina!”
The dagger lashed out at my heart like a venomous snake, but before it did, it was caught midair. The dagger sliced the hand
of the person who caught it, dripping blood into the tank and dyeing the seawater red.
Emily hadn’t reacted before she was kicked to the ground.
“Cyrus, why are you here?”
Cyrus‘ eyes filled with sorrow when he saw the state of my body, which quickly turned into fury and hatred when directed at
Emily.
“Emily, why did you want to kill Marina? She’s never done a thing to you!”
Emily sobbed, as if she’d been done a great injustice. “I did it to help you! I know you hate her, so I killed her for you so you
didn’t need to dirty your hands! Besides, she’s nothing but a monster, so she should’ve died ages ago! I was only doing the
right thing!”
Cyrus scoffed, looking down at Emily in the same manner as he looked at me in the past. “You did it to help me? Then what about when you locked her up in that narrow basement, and used her blood as paint?
“You’re just a venomous witch who’s jealous of Marina!”
