Chapter 17
She reached out and slapped me, “Still pretending?”
That slap seemed to use all her strength. My right cheek stung, and soon it swelled up.
“Don’t be too smug. Do you know where I’m taking you now? We’re going to the dock. I’ve arranged with Jack. This time, you’re coming to the island with me.”
I remained silent. I stared out the car window as the dock got closer and closer. I couldn’t help but start shaking.
Emma sneered, “Didn’t you say you didn’t know? Then what are you afraid of? Sister is just taking you to visit her little island.”
At this moment, Jack’s voice came through the car’s speaker. It turned out he had been listening to our conversation all along.
“Lily, don’t be afraid. I’ve always been gentle, right? I’m waiting for you.”
The dock was right in front of us. Emma said, “If Jack hadn’t reminded me that you might be setting me up, I wouldn’t have realized it at all. Lily, you acted well, but unfortunately, you’ve still fallen into my hands. Jack won’t let you go either.”
The boat was docked at the pier. After walking down a long corridor, we would board the ship.
Looking at the spinning propellers of the boat, I felt a bit desperate and unwilling.
I didn’t expect to come this far, only to end up sacrificing myself.
We changed to several small boats along the way. During the last transfer, due to the high speed, one of the two burly men and Emma got seasick. The two of them leaned against the cabin, feeling nauseous for a long time.
I pointed to a small boat not far away and asked, “Is that the one?”
The speedboat driver was a local old master, with excellent driving skills. The cabin was also very clean, showing that he was someone who took good care of his boat.
I pointed at the two people who were feeling sick and said to the master, “Can you go faster? Otherwise, these two might vomit in your boat.”
Hearing that they might vomit in his boat, the master quickly accelerated. The two who were already feeling sick really started to throw up. The master hurriedly told them to stick their heads out of the cabin.
Just as they both stuck their heads out, I lifted their feet and flipped them overboard, then dove into the water myself, swimming in the opposite direction.
The rescue yacht hadn’t even reached us yet, but people on board had already jumped in to save them.
In the midst of that chaos, I swam away.
The sea is really, really vast. After swimming for fifteen minutes, I started to feel desperate.

Jack and Emma, I would eventually die in this sea, then be eaten by sharks.
I swam in the sea for over an hour. I never thought I had such a strong will to survive.
My arms and legs could barely move anymore, I was just hanging on by sheer willpower.
Maybe I wasn’t destined to die. In the end, I swam into a near–shore aquaculture area and was rescued by fishermen who came to check on their fish fry.
