My ex-husband’s Ch 17

My ex-husband's Ch 17

Chapter 17

Anyway, Fulbert wasn’t here. Besides, he had offered to help her get back at Florentino.

Soon, Florentino calmed down.

“Enough with your lame tricks already,” he scoffed.

He didn’t know what she had pulled to get Fulbert to play along that day.

He’d believe her when she said she was with someone else, but Fulbert? Not a chance.

Looking at him, she asked, “You don’t believe me?”

The expression on his face said it all.

A bit awkward, she took out her phone, tapped the screen a few times, and smiled sweetly, looking exactly like a woman in love, “Fine. I’ll ask him to pick me up.”

To her surprise, Florentino still didn’t buy it.

She paused for a second.

Since he still didn’t say anything, she braced herself and took out her phone.

Meanwhile, she told herself to stay calm. As long as Fulbert played along, she could still rile Florentino up.

Thanks to her sharp memory, she had memorized Fulbert’s number after glancing at it on his business card once.

Truthfully, she was a bit uneasy when she dialed his number.

Would he pick up?

To her surprise, the call was connected almost immediately.

She said, her voice affectedly sweet, “Darling, Lyn and I just finished our coffee. You can come pick me up now.”

The car was cramped, and they sat close. There was no doubt Florentino could hear everything Fulbert said clearly.

In fact, she wanted to hang up after saying this. Who knew what Fulbert would say?

But suddenly, Florentino grabbed her wrist.

Caught off guard, she froze, not having any time to hang up at all.

Then Florentino lowered his gaze to look at Fulbert’s number on her screen, laughing coldly.

“Odd, isn’t it? You don’t even save your boyfriend’s number?”

Sandria parted her lips but didn’t know what to say.

Figuring her lie was exposed, she was about to come clean with both Fulbert and Florentino.

Just then, Fulbert’s indulgent, affectionate voice rang out.

“Babe, didn’t you tell me you’d be done by evening?”

The word “Babe” gave her goosebumps right away.

But then she realized–Fulbert was playing along!

She quickly said, “I missed you so much, so I ditched Lyn early.”

Hearing this, Fulbert let out a low chuckle. “Send me your location on WhatsApp. I’ll come and pick you up now.”

He hung up after saying this.

Sandria stared at her phone helplessly.

She didn’t have his contact on WhatsApp. How was she supposed to share her location with him right under Florenti- no’s nose?

She looked up, only to see Florentino’s utterly darkened expression.

His eyes were burning with rage.

Seeing this, she was secretly thrilled.

It hardened her resolve to go on with the act.

Pretending that she hadn’t noticed it, she tilted her body slightly so that Florentino couldn’t see her screen.

Then she opened WhatsApp and quickly keyed in Fulbert’s number.

After sharing her location, she put down her phone, flipped her hair, and scrunched her nose at Florentino, like that of a smug kitten with a fish.

A peculiar feeling stirred within him as he saw her like this.

“Mr. Burnham, surely, you don’t have any doubts now, do you?”

He stared at her, not saying a word. Finally, his expression turned serious, and he frowned.

Just then, her phone buzzed. Seeing it was a voice message from Fulbert, she clicked to play it. Immediately, his husky voice laced with indulgence rang out in the car. “You must be starving, right? I’ll take you for your favorite risotto later.”

She was stunned. How did Fulbert know risotto was her favorite?

But she didn’t dwell on it. Right now, what she wanted was simply to rile Florentino up.

She smiled, “That’s great, Darling.”

Her voice was nothing but sweet and gentle.

Florentino mocked, “You really go all out just to convince me, huh? A voice changer? Really?
