Chapter 131
That dress was the reason I became so suddenly popular when I reappeared in the hall that night.
Soren nodded. “Right. The two of you can discuss it and see what she likes.”
“Okay!”

Soren insisted on sending me back to the company–and that was how I found myself on the road again. Throughout the journey, he talked on the phone nonstop. Even after the calls ended, he pulled out his laptop. “I’m really sorry to be working right now,” he said.
“No, it’s not a problem at all,” I replied quickly, suniling
I should be the one apologizing. He had such a hectic day, yet he left work because of my issue. I couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
He could have just called the IRS and asked them to release me, and the head would have complied easily.
Yet, he went above and beyond, showing up in person despite his busy schedule just for me.
My heart was racing again, damn it!
Could this be a blatant display of favoritism? Care? It was already beyond friendship, wasn’t it?
He fir
finally closed his laptop just as we were nearing my office.
As I watched him, Soleil’s complaint suddenly popped into my mind. Without thinking, I blurted out, “Is being this busy every day sustainable for your body?”
“Hmm?” He froze and stared at me, his eyes softening. “Well, I’m used to it. Due to the nature of my work, I have to do a lot more to meet project deadlines.”
“Madame Kenway and Sol think you’re too much of a workaholic. You work at the expense of your health, you know?
“I mean, it seems fine now because you’re young–but our bodies don’t last forever. If this keeps up, I worry it might take a long–term toll on you.”
My heart was racing as I lectured him. I was nervous and shy. My cheeks burned.
He stared into my eyes. His gaze was calm and unperturbed his expression subtle.
We had seen each other multiple times by now, but I had never dared to meet his eyes directly like this. He was always too high up in status. His aura was too overwhelming.
But today, thanks to the confines of this car, I could see his face clearly.
He really looked like a prince. He had the best of both worlds–the softer, gentler features of a pretty boy and the hunky manliness of a dashing beefcake. It was unforgettable.
Jean had turned into a certified fangirl after seeing him once at the Oriole because he was “the hottest guy she had ever met.” My best friend was right.
We stared at each other for what felt like a long time. No one spoke.
The atmosphere thickened, and I could feel the temperature rise.

Chapter 131
The Audi finally stopped.
Michael turned to us from the passenger side and announced, “We’re here, Miss Jones.”
He must have sensed something was off and frowned.
Fortunately, Soren and I both looked away. We were fidgeting, trying to hide our embarrassment.
“Oh, we’re here? I mean, I’m here! Thank you!” I babbled and tried to open the car door… but it wouldn’t open. Luckily, Michael noticed my plight and quickly got out of his side to open the door for me.
I was mortified. “T–Thank you…”
Why had I said all of that?! I was nobody to him! I had no right to lecture him like that!
And the fact that he didn’t even respond to me… he must have thought I was being weird, too! Maybe he even saw through me and realized I had feelings for him?!
through me and realized I had feelings for him?!
Maybe he was already coming up with the best way to reject me!
