“Got it.” Soren took the suit from my hand and stepped into the changing room.
I returned to my workstation, but my mind wouldn’t stop racing.
I couldn’t shake the memory of him pulling me into his embrace as we crossed the road. It had lasted only a few seconds, but my heart still pounded long after.
A small commotion came from the changing room, pulling me from my thoughts.
I looked up. And then, I was mesmerized.
His bespoke suit highlighted his tall, regal figure, giving him an air of effortless cool and nobility. He looked like someone who commanded admiration without even trying
Soren smiled, clearly pleased with himself. “I think it’s perfect as it is. Nothing seems out of place.”
I forced myself to steady my racing heart, adopting my most professional expression.
“Well, even the best fashion designers need a trial or two, and adjustments. We’re talking about bespoke suits, after all,” I replied.
Imoved closer to him, adjusting his collar with a practiced touch.
“This is premium flannel from a historic textile shop in Loegria,” I explained. “It gives off an air of humility and solemness, and its softness is just right. It’s perfect for autumn.”
As I examined the suit, checking every detail, I made notes on areas that might need adjustment. I also shared insights into the common fabrics used in men’s suits.
He nodded appreciatively. “I trust your expertise, Taylor.”
I stood before him, smoothing his shoulders and lapels, when he spoke. The compliment made my ears flush, and I couldn’t stop myself from stammering. “T–Thank you…”
I avoided his gaze, feeling my pulse race. I’d been through this process many times before. I should be used to it by now.
But with him… I couldn’t help but feel like I was a gentle, attentive wife helping her husband into his suit.
Soren broke the silence. “How’s your hand? The bruise looks pretty bad. Have you put any medicine on it?”
His gaze was fixed on the back of my hand.
I glanced at it. My fair skin made the bruise look worse than it really was–just a couple of light scratches from when I accidentally hit Edward with an umbrella.
“It’s fine, really. It looks worse than it feels,” I reassured him, smiling.
He frowned. “Don’t push yourself, Taylor. It’s okay if you need more time. I have plenty of other options.”
“I know, I know,” I said, reassuring him.
“But really, it’s fine.” I removed his jacket. “You can take this off now. I need to check on your trousers.”
As I worked, I couldn’t help but brush against his waist again. Even through his shirt, I could feel the firmness of his abs, and my heart raced all over again.
“U–Um,” I stammered, trying to focus. “Have you been eating enough? You’ve gotten thinner.”
