Chapter 180
Edward got out of his car just in time.
Since he was here, I thought I was no longer morally compelled to go after Edith.
“Your sister is in trouble. Go look for her!” I said.
He seemed confused. “What? Edith told me to come here for you! She said you’ve both been drinking.”
“I didn’t drink! And more importantly, don’t worry about me. Your sister is in trouble! She’s driving when she shouldn’t!”
Edward could tell I was serious. Alarmed, he pulled out his phone.
She didn’t answer.
A severe expression shadowed his face as he ran back to his car.
After watching him leave, I drove off as well.
What happened to Edith was no longer my concern. I had informed her family. My responsibility ended there.
Unfortunately, things escalated quickly. Well past midnight, long after I had fallen asleep, my phone rang.
I groggily picked it up, and Edward’s voice–immediately howled through the receiver. “What did you do to my sister?! What did you do?! Why did you end up fine after dinner while she… had to… go through this?!”
I jolted awake. “What happened to her?”
“What do you mean ‘what happened? You fucking tell me!” he screamed.
I was frightened enough to put my phone away.
When the silence stretched, I shouted back angrily, “Don’t blame this on me, Edward! You should’ve asked what she did to cause all of this before lashing at me!”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I have no idea either, but don’t fucking shout at me about your family issues! And don’t even be late for court!”
I hung up.
The next morning, I skipped work and went to the restaurant. I told them I needed a copy of their surveillance footage.
The manager hesitated at first, but I explained that I had lost something valuable and needed to check the feed. I added that if they refused, I would have no choice but to involve law enforcement.
Worried about their business, the manager reluctantly agreed.
When I saw the exact moment Edith poured the drug into my drink, I shivered. If she hadn’t been impatient and stirred it haphazardly, leaving residue on the straw, I would have never known! I would have drunk it!
And then… when Edward came to get me, just as she had planned…
“What the hell?! What did that woman add to your drink?” the manager asked.

After talking for a bit, the managet agreed to copy that portion of the footage to my phone.
With that, I could finally use it to pressure Edward into ending things with me.
Edward picked up my call quickly, but his tone was hostile What?! Can’t you just leave the fucking court case for later?!”
“That’s not why I’m calling,” I replied calmly. “What happened to your sister? I should check on her since we ate together. It’s morally right to do that, right?”
“Fuck you.” Edward sneered. “So now you suddenly care? If it weren’t for me still caring about you, I would have called the cops on you!”
I was stunned. “Why?!”
“You drugged her!”
I froze. Then, I scoffed. “Did she tell you that?”
“Do I need to hear her say it? She was dining with you, but she’s the one with problems. You were the one who informed me, too, which means you knew what happened!
“What the fuck, Taylor?! I didn’t know you’d turned into such a malicious asshole! You’ve ruined your own family, and now you’re doing it to mine!”
