Chapter 196
Chapter 196
I froze. “Oh, I’m not sleepy!”
And then I cracked a yawn.
Soren laughed. “Just take a nap. It’ll take an hour to reach your office anyway.”
Well, here were my options. If I chose not to sleep, this silence between us would feel awkward. If I chose to talk, what happened when our topics veered into certain territories, and we’re back to being awkward again?
You know what? A nap was the best choice after all. Even if had to pretend to be asleep.
“Sounds good,” I replied.
I intended to pretend to sleep. I thought I could close my eyes and imagine some designs and arrangements for the fashion show in Medhelanon next year.
What I didn’t expect was Soren pressing a button and adjusting my seat to the most ergonomic position. I was reclining way too comfortably!
I stared at him. He flashed a smile. “It’s more comfortable this way.
“Ha, okay… Thanks…”
God, the embarrassment was killing me. Could you imagine what this felt like?
It felt like we were a couple. A married one, even! Friends, especially those of the opposite sex, didn’t do things like this!
I couldn’t adjust my seat back to what it once was because I didn’t even know where the control panel was.
As one would expect, the ergonomic seating, the car’s comfortable atmosphere, and the general tranquility made me fall into a real nap.
I already had the habit of taking a half–hour afternoon nap due to my insomnia and how frequently I worked overnight. This time, I took that nap in his car!
I opened my eyes and stretched my arms a little.
Suddenly, I heard a gentle voice asking. “Oh, are you awake?”
I froze. Then, I turned my head mechanically in the direction of the voice.
Soren was grinning at me with a phone in his hand.
Nooo!
I tried to sit straight up, panicking. But he casually pressed a button, and my seat straightened itself slowly.
It was so embarrassing!
I looked out of the window. We were at my company’s parking lot. “What time is it? Why didn’t you wake me up-
Something fell off me. I looked down and realized it was Soren’s coat.
What the hell?! How deeply did I sleep to not even feel him putting his coat over me?! In every drama I watched,

the girl always woke up exactly when the boy set his coat of her!
Why was I not that girl?!
“2:30 p.m.,” he answered consolingly. “Don’t worry. I’m not in a rush.”
He passed me a bottle of water–which he had even preemptively opened for me.
I felt self–conscious. I knew that if someone fell asleep shortly after a meal, their mouth tended to dry out, creating a certain… odor. The person themselves might not smell it, but others could definitely tell.
I wasn’t sure if my breath smelled, but I gulped down half a bottle of water just to be sure.
It stunned him. “Oh God, was lunch too salty for you?”
“N–No! I always drink a lot of water after a nap!” 1
I should really get out of the car now, so I handed his coat back to him.
His shirt had the same scent as he did–the fresh pine forest and musk scent. I could smell it even after I removed
the coat.
I knew my face had to be burning again.
“Thanks,” I said.
He immediately tossed it into the backseat!
“Um, I’m sorry for taking up so much of your time. I, uh, will go now,” I said hastily, smiling, and opened the door.
The SUV was too damn tall. Even with my height, the tip of my foot barely touched the ground.
Before my foot stabilized, I suddenly heard Soren call out, “Wait, Taylor.”
I turned. “Yes?”
Our eyes were at the same level. I met his gaze.
