Chapter 218
Edward, for the life of me, was one of the second batch of distinguished alumnil
Moreover, he had donated 13,000,000 dollars to the academy for its
100th anniversary.
Honestly, 13,000,000 dollars was a very significant amount but the impact it caused was nothing compared to Soren’s contribution.
Even so, I was slightly astonished
In the past, I had tried to ask Edward for money to buy back he bracelet that had been pawned off–out of desperation. Yet, he had told me he wasn’t able to gather that much cash.
In the end, though, he had been able to spend millions of dollars at an auction just to make Maddison happy.
And now, he’d spent a whopping 13,000,000 dollars on the academy. So, at the end of the day, he had the money- but refused to spend it on me, even if I had only asked for a loan.
I sneered, feeling nothing but disgust as I watched him walk up to the podium, as handsome as he was.
To my surprise, Soren, who was a VIP guest, had been asked to hand out certificates to the second batch of distinguished alumni alongside the deans.
I wasn’t sure if it had been arranged on purpose or not, but. Soren just so happened to be the one handing Edward’s certificate to him!
The unease and anger I had buried inside me flared up again as I sat among the audience.
Even though I was a bit far from the podium, I could still see everything clearly on the screen. Edward’s face had darkened so much as he posed for a photo with Soren.
That was when I received another text from Jean, who was clearly enjoying the situation.
Jean: [Do you think Soren purposely arranged to be the one handing Edward’s certificate to get some revenge for you? Edward’s donation pales so much in comparison, yet he’s being given his cert by the one who outshines him by leaps and bounds!
[Hahaha! I wish I could interview Edward and find out how traumatic this is for him!]
It was a little immoral, considering I had only donated 1,300 dollars–nothing to be proud of–but I couldn’t stop myself from laughing gleefully at Jean’s message.
And that was when I finally understood what Candy had said–Soren definitely hadn’t known about the marriage arrangement.
There were plenty more performances after the faculty deans finished their speeches.
Each faculty had arranged at most two performances, and the graduates had also taken the initiative to put on a
show.
The celebration went on all the way until the dinner party began.
Everyone returned to the venue about half an hour after leaving, and by then, the chairs in the gym had been cleared away, replaced with large round tables.
With the help of volunteers, we each found our seats, sorted by faculty,

This time, the faculty deans kept their speeches brief, and soon, the dinner party began, featuring exciting performances, including singing and dancing.
Amanda and I were seated at the same table, enjoying the entertainment–one of which was a catwalk showcasing one of my designs.
Suddenly, I felt someone pat my shoulder. “Look who I brought for you, Taylor!”
I turned around and saw Candy first, with Edward standing next to her.
My expression instantly changed. If I could, I would have launched Candy into the stratosphere. Damn bitch.
“Here you go, Edward! Here’s your seat!” Candy shoved my other former coursemates aside like she owned the place before pulling Edward toward an empty chair.
