Chapter 224
Soren had been resting throughout the entire journey. He finally opened his eyes and sat up when the car came to
a stop.
Amanda glanced at him and said, “Thank you, Mr. Kenway’ll buy you a meal if we ever meet again.”
In my mind, I doubted that opportunity would ever arise. After all, Amanda was working overseas and would rarely return to Metropolis.
To my surprise, Soren smiled politely and replied, “I’m sure we will.”
Amanda seemed to understand what Seren meant by that and raised her eyebrows at me before getting out. “See you next time.”
“Bye bye.” I waved and, almost instinctively, moved into her seat after she left.
Soren simply stared at me, his smile causing my face to flush.
“Why are you smiling?” I asked.
Why
Soren was a tall man with long limbs–his arm stretched easily to my seat when he extended it.
“Why are you hiding from me?” he asked.
I looked at his arm, feeling my cheeks heat up.
What was he trying to do? Was he trying to pull me into his arms?
Hello! The driver was right in front of us–surely, he wouldn’t do something so out of character?
Well… it turned out I was wrong
Soren continued staring at me, but after a brief pause, he sighed in exhaustion. “I’m a little dizzy… I don’t feel so good.”
I was taken aback, causing me to ask, “Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
He had just returned home from overseas the previous night, which made me think he must have been exhausted from lack of sleep.
On top of that, he had spent the entire day accompanying the deans with their activities. I doubted he had time to rest in the afternoon.
And worse still, he had been drinking that night…
Flashes of memories came to mind, recalling how Lisbeth and Soleil had both mentioned how much of a workaholic Soren could become when he threw himself into his work.
I couldn’t help but feel a little heartbroken for him, even frustrated at the thought that Soren might’ve thought he Was s young enough to endure all of that.
“You’ve exhausted yourself with work day and night… You shouldn’t overwork yourself as if you really think you’re a machine,” 1 chided.
As soon as I finished speaking, I noticed that Soren had leaned a little closer to me with a faint grin.
“Guilty as charged.”
After my lengthy rant, his comment caught me off guard. Suddenly, I didn’t know what to say.

Chapter 224
The car fell into silence once again.
When I saw him leaning against the door with his eyes closed, my voice softened as I asked, “How are you feeling? We could go to the hospital if you’re not feeling well. There’s no need to be tough about it.”
“I’m alright. Just a little exhausted. The alcohol from earlier is making me dizzy, but I’ll be fine after a short nap, “he said dismissively.
His eyes were shut, and he seemed to be mumbling.
Noticing his posture looked slightly off, I couldn’t help but gently push down his arm, which rested against the backrest.
Suddenly, he seized the opportunity to wrap his arm around my shoulders and pull me closer.
Stunned, my eyes widened as I stared at him, my heart racing with anxiety.
I quickly glanced at the driver, who remained focused on the road, indifferent to his employer’s actions–and too cautions to take notice.
“Soren, what are you doing?” I asked, my voice tinged with unease and rejection.
Yet his arm rersained around my shoulders.
“I’m tired. Let me lie down for a while..” he mumbled.

Though his voice was low and muffled, it carried a tone of deliberate endearment, like a lover playfully coaxing.
My resistance faded, and I allowed him to draw closer.
His Rolls Royce glided through the night, sleek and mysterious as a panther.
Soren rested against me, his breathing steady and slow, like Sleeping Beauty in repose.
I glanced at him cautiously, stealing a glimpse from the corner of my eye.
I studied his face, absorbing every detail, committing his fine features to memory.
