When I returned to my office, I called the person who had driven Jamie to the hospital to check on his condition.
I felt genuinely sorry for Jamie when I learned he needed stitches, and I decided to visit him. After all, he injured because of my personal affairs.

On my way to the hospital, I learned what had happened in the conference room.
Cameron, in a fit of rage, had thrown a file that struck Jamie’s head, causing him to bleed instantly.
Thankfully, the file had missed his eye, or the injury could have been far more severe.
I didn’t feel I had punished Cameron enough for her actions, but that could wait. Apologizing to Jamie came first. When I arrived at the hospital, Jamie had already gotten his stitches. He was sitting in the emergency department’s hallway, while the staff member who had driven him there had gone to pay the bill
“I’m really sorry for all of this, Mr. Young. It’s my fault you were hurt so badly,” I said earnestly.
Jamie had a bandage wrapped from the right side of his head to just above his left eyebrow, so he could only turn to look at me with his right eye.
“It was an accident, Miss Jones. No need to apologize. Did you manage to resolve the situation?”
“I did, but… I didn’t call the police,” I replied. “I’ll have my stepmother apologize to you in person after
everything’s settled. I’ll also cover your medical bills and any other compensation you need.”
I planned to pay Jamie and charge everything to Cameron’s bill–there was no way I was going to pay for her mess.
