Jamie simply replied, “Make sure to keep an eye out for passing cars so you don’t miss your friend, Miss Jones.” “Okay,” I said.
Cherry, sitting beside me, had overheard my conversation with Soren. She leaned in and whispered, “Is Mr. Kenway coming to get you?”
I shot her a look without responding, but Cherry giggled like a child, her neck scrunched in amusement.
“Alright… Mr. Young and I will head back after this,” she said.
It was clear she wanted to disappear before Soren arrived to avoid being a third wheel.
I considered explaining that Soren and I weren’t officially a couple–at least, not yet–but I quickly dismissed the idea. Neither of them would believe me anyway.
About half an hour later, Soren called back, and we agreed on a meeting point.
I kept a sharp lookout for his car.
Although it was late, the streetlamps cast a bright glow, and I immediately recognized Soren’s arrival when a large vehicle sped past in the opposite lane. It was almost as if I had a sixth sense.
I called him and asked him to make a U–turn, then requested Jamie to pull over.
Three minutes later, the massive car, headlights blazing, approached and came to a smooth stop behind ours.
I stepped out and saw a tall, imposing figure emerge from the Rolls Royce. Bathed in the car’s light, he looked like a knight in shining armor as he strode toward me.
“Tay–Tay! It’s Mr. Kenway!” Cherry squealed with excitement.
My heart raced, and my cheeks burned.
Acknowledging her reaction, I tried to get out of the car, but my knees refused to cooperate.
Jamie and Cherry helped me to my feet, ensuring I didn’t fall.
Soren drew closer, his tall, commanding frame and strikingly handsome face becoming more distinct with each
step.
“Taylor!” he called.
“Hi…“I managed, attempting to walk, but the pain was unbearable.
Soren rushed to my side and steadied me. “Can you not walk? Is it that bad?”
His authoritative tone could make anyone uneasy.
At the very least, Cherry trembled, likely feeling guilty again
“I’m fine. It’s just a flesh wound,” I replied quickly, forcing myself to move to his side despite the pain.
