I snapped out of my daze and glanced toward the door. “You’re leaving already?”
Jean was putting on her shoes when she glanced at me and playfully huffed. “I’m surprised you still think of me as your friend. What, you want me to stick around and watch you two flirt?”
“What?! We’re just friends…” I stole a glance at Soren and quickly looked away, feeling flustered.
Jean snorted. “Ugh, stop pretending.”
With that, she opened the door and tossed out a final remark. “I’m off! Take care of yourself!”

The door clicked shut, and the room instantly fell silent.
I withdrew my gaze and, reluctantly, tumed my attention back to Soren.
