The next day, Cherry stopped by to check on me and brought some documents for me to sign.
“Mr. Young was asking me about Mr. Kenway on our way back to the campsite that day–who he was, what your relationship with him was, and so on…”
I glanced up from the papers and met her eyes. “And what did you say?”
“I was a little caught off guard at first, but after thinking it through, I told him Mr. Kenway used to be our client, but now he and you are just friends.” Cherry seemed unsure as she continued. “Did I do alright?”
I smiled and kept signing. “That’s fine. We really are just friends at the moment.‘

Cherry giggled and teased, “Oh, come on, Tay–Tay. Are you seriously still going to say you two are ‘just friends‘ after how he carried you in his arms?”
I shot her a look and feigned sternness. “Less gossip, more work, missy!”
“Okay, okay… Of all the people I could gossip about, I’d never dare gossip about my own boss, haha…”
She joked for a moment, then suddenly grew serious. “But Honestly, Mr. Kenway really is a great man. I think you should ignore what others are saying about you two and just be with him if you like him. It’s hard to find someone as perfect as he is.”
It seemed the rumors were already circulating among those around me.
But after the public scrutiny and cyberbullying I had faced during the annulment process, this level of gossip hardly surprised me anymore.
