I thought the question was hypothetical and meaningless, so I refused to answer. Besides, even if Soren weren’t in the picture, there was never a possibility of anything between us.
After that, Ace wheeled me out of the courtroom, where Cherry and Jean were already waiting. They had already heard the verdict and rushed over to celebrate.

I gave them a faint smile. “Let’s go have lunch and celebrate.”
“Absolutely! Let’s go to the Oriole. I’ve already made the reservation,” Jean said excitedly.
I invited Ace to join us, but he declined, saying he had too much to take care of. Then he left.
The three of us followed behind, but as soon as we stepped off the courthouse steps, a commotion erupted ahead.
I frowned at the sight.
The Kennedys were waiting at the courthouse entrance, standing beside Sally.
Who knew how long they had been there, just waiting for me to come out?
Sally spotted me and charged forward. “There she is!”
Jean reacted instantly. “Cherry, block them! I’ll get Taylor out of here.”
I laughed. “Forget it, there’s no avoiding them.”
Jean didn’t listen. She gritted her teeth, grabbed my wheelchair handles, and sprinted in the opposite direction, hoping to escape through another exit.
But Cherry, alone against the Kennedys, was no match for them. They caught up and had me surrounded in no time.
“Taylor, you got what you wanted. You’re free now, so why won’t you let Edith go?! She treated you like her sister- in–law all these years, took you as family, and yet you had the heart to send her to prison?”
Sally blocked my path, her tone fierce and indignant as if she had every right to make such demands.
Jean, panting from the chase, snapped, “Family? Do your family members usually spike each other’s drinks with drugs? What kind of tradition is that?!”

I nearly burst out laughing and gave Jean a thumbs–up.
By Sally’s logic, Edith, who supposedly saw me as family, had no problem poisoning me.

Sally’s face twisted. She paled as she looked at me and barked, “I’m talking to Taylor. Mind your own business!” Then she really looked at me. Her eyes narrowed. “What happened to your legs? Why are you in a wheelchair?” “Why bother asking? I’m sure it’s just karma for being a vicious woman,” one of the Kennedy relatives sneered. I couldn’t be bothered to explain. Instead, I met Sally’s gaze and said, “My annulment and your daughter drugging me are two separate matters. I was willing to let it go, but that didn’t happen thanks to Edward’s persistence.”

It was none other than Soren.
I frowned slightly. I hadn’t wanted him involved in this mess.
Meanwhile, Jean was practically vibrating with excitement. She patted my shoulder and whispered, “This is gonna be good.”
The Kennedys bristled, trying to stand their ground but instinctively retreated as Soren strode forward.
