His words continued to shock me.
God, where could anyone find someone so self–aware and virtuous? Every word he spoke lifted my spirits like a spring breeze.
I swore my walls were crumbling like pastry in his presence again.
While I was still lost in my thoughts, Soren began introducing me to his friends.
Coincidentally, one of them had a girlfriend who was the editor–in–chief of a renowned international fashion magazine. She shook my hand enthusiastically and asked if I’d agree to an exclusive interview.
Well, I’d be heading to Medhelanon for this year’s fashion show soon. An interview with such a prestigious magazine could be a major boost to my fame and brand!

Afterward, I went to the bathroom. But as soon as I entered a stall, I overheard an awkward conversation.

“Hey, enough of this, okay? We women shouldn’t be talking bad about each other. She’s one of us!
“Look, did you read her response? The Kennedys are a family of assholes who hurt her first. She’s just fighting back–and that makes her a fighter. Maybe Mr. Kenway fell for her because she’s bold, brave, and resourceful.”
I stayed in my cubicle, glad to know at least one of these socialites had a brain.
“Please, ‘brave, bold, and resourceful‘? More like a stone–cold schemer, if you ask me. She sent her dad to jail, took over his company, and made sure her stepmother and brother live in financial ruin. How does Mr. Keny sleep at night knowing his partner did all of that?”
I wanted to hear more, but my phone rang–alerting them to my presence. They fell silent.
The call was from Jean, but I declined it for the moment. I then exited the stall with a smile, watching as three pairs of horrified eyes locked onto me.
The bathroom remained eerily quiet as I washed my hands, acting as if nothing had happened.
