I studied him and the woman standing next to him. They looked important.
Soren stood and shook his hand. “Mr. and Mrs. Pearce. Good afternoon.”
“I’ve finalized the bidding documents, Mr. Kenway. Thanks for working with us this time. Let me pay for your lunch with Miss…” he trailed off, glancing at me.
“This is Taylor Jones, my girlfriend,” Soren said.
“Oh, I’ve heard of you! Good afternoon!” he said, nodding enthusiastically.
The woman next to him, however, studied me with a strange look.

I watched them leave, then sighed. “You didn’t have to tell them.”
