Chapter 31
“You know what? Cancel the plan. You should go and calm your little princess,” I said, jumping to my feet.
Unfortunately, Maddison had no intention of letting me go
“Where the hell do you think you’re going, Taylor Jones?! How dare you run away after being caught with my husband!” she shrieked, causing the entire hall to jolt in surprise.
People began looking around in confusion.
I waved at Maddison from a distance, smiling provocatively “Oooh, can you even reach me, though?”
“You bitch!” she screamed, her voice rising as though she were ready to lunge.
Edward hurriedly stepped in, pulling Maddie into a tight hug before she completely lost control.
“Stop it, Maddie! We’re here to transfer ownership of the villa. You want me to sever all ties with her, right? Well, we still need to divide the properties in the divorce!”
I snickered to myself. Just a few moments ago, he’d been the sweetest guy on the planet, sipping his hot chocolate, and now he couldn’t wait to cut ties with me?
I had no idea he was such a pretender.
“Then why the hell did you lie about being at work? Why do you always tell me you’re busy when I want you to spend time with me?
“If I hadn’t shown up here, you’d still be lying to me, wouldn’t you? And you even bought her a drink! You care so much about her, and now you’re telling me I overreacted?!” she growled.
Maddie was smarter than Edward thought. She must have picked up on his regret for choosing her and his growing excuses to see me.
The hall quickly filled with people. By that point, though, I was already outside.
I glanced back, and through the glass doors, I saw Maddie hurling the hot chocolate cup at Edward, screaming uncontrollably.
The crowd around him scattered quickly, but Edward was drenched, covered in the sticky mess.
I was stunned and shuddered.
Jean was right–Maddie really was too much. No man could possibly stand her.
“You sure are the architect of your own punishment, Edward. Ha!” I muttered.
The villa’s ownership transfer stalled, but I still moved out that afternoon.
After witnessing Maddie’s outburst, I was convinced I needed to stay as far away from Edward and L family as possible for my safety.
I moved out without telling Edward. Instead, I contacted the property manager.
Later that night, as I unpacked in a room I rented, Edward called. I let it ring
He then texted me.

Edward: [You’ve moved out, Tay? I hope it’s a place that’s convenient for you. Is it a safe neighborhood?]
Edward: [Sorry about Maddie. She’s been undergoing some intense treatment, and it’s affecting her emotions. I explained everything to her, and she apologized.]
I was stunned. Jean was right! A scheming bitch played a man like a fiddle. She humiliated him in public, and yet he was fine with it so easily?
I laughed. Edward was a bit of a masochist, after all.
Edward: [You’ll need an allowance now that you’re renting ‘ll send you the money first. We can do the paperwork some other time.]
I didn’t reply to any of his messages.
A moment later, I received a notification that 1,500,000 dollars had been transferred to my account.
I was confused. Who did he love? Maddie or me? Or did he just enjoy taking turns between the two of us?
I transferred 500,000 dollars back to him and replied: [Thanks.]
He sent me several more messages, but I wasn’t interested in reading them.
I still had to work on the Kenways‘ orders. I had an appointment with them this weekend–I was going to show Lisbeth my first draft and make the changes she wanted.
My mood had been awful, and my sleep suffered. Tonight, had to rely on sleeping pills.
The state limousine arrived on time the next morning.
The ride was so smooth and comfortable that I accidentally fell asleep during the journey.
By the time I woke up
the car had already been parked outside the Kenway residence for who knew how long.
