Shocked, I pushed open the door and hurriedly exited the “Oh God, I’m sorry, Charles! The ride was so comfy I accidentally fell asleep! You should have woken me up.
“Not to worry, Miss Jones! Mr. Kenway was the one who told us not to wake you. He thinks you must be too exhausted from work lately,” Charles replied cheerfully, motioning for me to enter.
As I stepped into the pavilion with my bag, Charles‘ words played in my mind.

“Of course. He was on his way out when you arrived. John told him you’d fallen asleep, so he glanced through the window and instructed us not to wake you.”

Before I could offer an explanation for my tardiness, Lisbeth gently interrupted, “Now, now. I know how exhausting it can be for young professionals. I think a rest is well–deserved. Besides, I wish I had spoken with you earlier so we wouldn’t have to schedule this at such a hectic time.”
I was even more embarrassed. “No, Madame Kenway. I… I’ve had some family matters to handle lately. But don’t worry! It won’t interfere with your commission. I’ve been working hard on your design despite my personal issues.

I showed Lisbeth the design I had worked on and made adjustments based on her feedback.
The session continued until noon.
“Taylor, dear, would you join us for lunch?” Lisbeth invited warmly, now calling me by my first name.
“Thank you for the invitation, but I promised my grandmother I’d visit her around noon, so I must excuse myself,
I replied apologetically.
“Mm! One should spend more time with family on the weekends. I’m sorry for scheduling our meeting on a day when you should be resting and enjoying time with them. That was inconsiderate of me!” Lisbeth said.
I couldn’t believe it. Did people like her really exist?
I had turned down her offer twice, and instead of being upset, she just expressed understanding and apologized?!
I bade her goodbye and made my way back to the gate. I was about to get into the car when a black Audi arrived.
“Mr. Kenway has returned,” Charles announced, smiling.
My heart skipped a beat, a flutter of excitement racing through me as his silhouette appeared in
mind.
I was actually pretty excited to see him! But, of course, I was too shy to show it. Thus, I hugged my workbag closer and stood by the limousine.
Charles opened the door of the Audi, and Soren emerged in casual attire.
“Good afternoon, Miss Jones! Are you not staying for lunch” he greeted cordially.

He must have been playing sports. His handsome face was slightly flushed from the activity, which only made his eyes even more striking. When they met mine, I suddenly felt very nervous.
“Sorry, I can’t stay. I have a family lunch planned with my grandmother,” I replied with a smile, not realizing that my tone had become unexpectedly refined.
He nodded. “That’s understandable. The weekends are a good time to spend with family.”
And that was it. I could almost feel the conversation coming to a natural end.
We were people from different worlds. There was nothing more to say, was there?
I glanced down, my eyes momentarily settling on his waist, which reminded me of that undignified incident.

“How did she like your design? Is she pleased?” he asked.
I snapped out of my stupor.
“Hmm?”
He smiled, knowing I had been daydreaming, and nodded toward my bag.
“Oh! Right!” I responded quickly. “It went really well! I just need to make a few finer adjustments once I’m back at my workshop.’
