“That’s not urgent. What’s urgent is Edith’s case,” Edward said “You said you’d agree to settle if she apologized to you. Does that still stand?”
I frowned, staring at him. “You came all this way in the freezing night, sick as you are, just to ask me that?”
“How else was I supposed to? You’ve blocked my number and changed yours, after all.”
Edward’s tone was calm but laced with sarcasm as he added “As if you’d die from answering my call…”
1 paused, realizing I’d indeed received two calls from an unknown number earlier today. I’d silenced them both.
“So? Does it s
stand?” he pressed.
I took a breath. Honestly, I didn’t want to let it stand–Edith’s attitude in court had infuriated me.
But with Harry about to be released, I had no idea what kind of trouble he’d stir up next.
To avoid dealing with everything at once, especially with my Fashion Week showcase coming up, I decided to let this one go.
“Fine. Have her apologize publicly, and I’ll accept an out–of–court settlement.” I may have agreed, but I still gave a reminder. “However, Ace told me a settlement may not make much difference in court at this stage.”
“I’ll handle the rest as long as you provide a letter saying you forgive her,” Edward replied.
He had probably found someone even more powerful to pull some strings.
I nodded. “Alright then. It’s settled.”
With that, I turned toward my door, ready to head inside.
But Edward made no move to leave.
He turned his wheelchair toward me. “Taylor, are you happier with Soren than you were with me?”
I had just unlocked the door and was pulling it open, but I turned back when I heard that.
“Isn’t it obvious?” I smiled and laid out the facts. “He’s richer than you, comes from a better family, is more capable, and treats me with more care. Also, he’s physically healthier and stronger than you.”
Edward’s face darkened with every word.
“Why ask something like that when you know the answer will only humiliate you?” I questioned.
His hands clenched the wheelchair’s armrests, knuckles whitening under the
pressure.
Silence hung heavy between us.
Just as I stepped inside and reached to close the door, he spoke again, his voice cold and detached. “Have you met William Kenway yet? Has he even agreed to your relationship?”
I turned, one hand resting on the doorknob, and smiled faintly. “I’ll be visiting him this weekend.”
With
that, I shut the door, cutting the conversation short.
Annoyance simmered within me.
Soren was probably right–my apartment was no longer suitable. I needed to move.

Still, I had no intention of relocating to his lavish mansion That meant I’d have to start house hunting after the new year. Ideally, I’d find a fully furnished place one I could clean up and move into without hassle.
This time, I wouldn’t let any of those troublemakers know where I lived.
I needed a home where I could find peace.
As I stood behind the door, I peered through the peephole.
Edward lingered outside in silence for a moment before fhally heading toward the elevator. Only then did I relax, sinking onto the sofa.
Why had Edward brought up William? It almost sounded as though he thought William wouldn’t accept me into his family.
I mulled it over but couldn’t make sense of it. Eventually, I set the thought aside and went to wash up for bed.
Soren showed up again the next morning with breakfast and picked me up
downstairs.
We headed to the Maserati dealership, where the regional director personally welcomed us and introduced the various models.
I didn’t have a particular preference for brands, but I did have specific requirements for the model and interior. As for the mechanical aspects, I left that to Soren.
