“You just want me dead as soon as possible, don’t you, bitch?!” Harry roared, snatching Cameron’s phone. “Well, I ain’t gonna die so soon! You can count on that.”
“We’ll see. Patience,” I replied, amused.
Naturally, I wanted him to live longer–my revenge plot deserved more time.
Did these idiots really think I would buy them a burial plot after they died? That I cared enough to do anything with their corpses?
I wouldn’t even use Harry’s ashes to plant a tree. I could bet the sapling would just wither and die.
Half an hour later, we arrived.
Cameron started shouting at me the moment she stepped out of the car. All three of them complained.
I ignored them and turned to the Uber driver, handing him 150 dollars. “This is for you–to come with me into the cemetery.”
The man’s face lit up at the extra cash. “What are they to you, ma’am? They’ve been talking the nastiest shit about you the whole ride, you know?”
I smiled bitterly. “Sorry about that. That’s my biological father, his mistress, and their bastard son.”
“Fuck, what a bunch of shameless pieces of shit,” the man muttered, shaking his head. “Don’t worry. I got your back.”
Good. That was exactly why I paid him. You could never be too careful with people like them.
I turned to the group and gestured toward the hill. “Alright. Let’s take a stroll.”
Harry’s eyes narrowed as realization set in.
“This is where your mother’s grave is,” he snarled.
I smiled coldly. “And you’ve never been here before. Until today.”
Cameron’s face flushed red. “Are you insane?! Your father divorced her years ago! He has nothing to do with her, so why bring him here?!”
She grabbed Harry, trying to steer him away from the gate.
I stepped closer to Miles and offered, “Miles, carry your old man up the hill, and I’ll pay you 700 bucks.”
“What the fuck?! Don’t you dare listen to her, Miles! Don’t! Cameron shrieked.
Unfortunately for her, Miles was sick of being broke. An easy 700 dollars was too tempting to resist. “Come on, Dad. Since we’re here, we might as well check out the scenery.”
“You bastard of a son!” Harry roared, trying to walk away.
700 bucks, Miles. If he walks off, you get nothing.”

He studied me for a second. He knew exactly what I was doing, but he wanted the cash more than anything else. Then, without hesitation, he rushed forward, blocking his father’s path. “I’m carrying you up.”
He crouched, motioning for Harry to get on.
Cameron rained blows on him. “You idiot! You’re selling your dignity! Our dignity! Just for her money?! She’s humiliating you!”
“Then humiliate me too, Mom! As long as there’s money involved, I sure don’t mind a little more humiliation!”
