The next day, I went to Harry’s office.
The man glared at me coldly. One glance, and he started to scoff. “What are you doing here? Haven’t y enough to ruin our family?”

I sat across from his desk. “I’m desperately in need of money. If you’re not going to return Mom’s shares to me, then give me the equivalent amount in cash.”
Harry froze. His glare darkened even more. “Are you stupid I gave you half of your mother’s shares, and you’re still asking for more?”
“It was my mom’s, so you should have given me all of them Besides, if you hadn’t stolen my grandparents‘ business, do you really think you’d still be here?”
Harry’s eyes locked onto mine,
The awkward silence stretched for a few seconds until he suddenly pulled me toward the door. “Get out. Don’t make me call security.”
“I’ll go if you pay me 1,500,000 dollars,” I said.
“What the hell?!” His voice cracked. “You’re kidding me. I’d rather burn it than hand you that much money!”
“Shut up, Harry. What happens if Maddison’s at a critical stage and needs blood again? Aren’t you people going to need me?” I argued.
I hated objectifying myself like this, but I was at my wit’s end.
I had to gather money quickly. I would gladly sacrifice a bit of my dignity for the chance to reclaim my mother’s bracelet.
“How dare you call me by my name! I’m your father, and you will show me some godforsaken respect!”
“You don’t deserve to be my dad,” I retorted.
He should be thankful I didn’t address him more accurately–like “son of a bitch.”
“Ingrate!” he snarled.
He paused for a moment, then glared at me and asked carefully, “Are you sure you’re willing to save Maddison?”
“As long as you can pay the price.”
“Ha! Then why didn’t you save her last time?”
“It wasn’t me. The nurse said that I couldn’t donate my blood because I had taken sleeping pills just hours before.”
Harry fell silent. He seemed to be thinking it over.
Just when I thought he might love Maddie enough to agree, he shattered my expectations. “I de money. Not 1,500,000–hell, not even 150 grand.

This amount of money should have meant nothing to him. Yet here he was.

“She’s already too far gone. Her disease is incurable! It’s not sensible to throw money at something that isn’t going to change!” he argued.
“Hmm, very rational,” I remarked, nodding.
I waved my phone in the air. “I wonder if Cameron will agree.”
I hadn’t actually recorded any of it. I was just using it as an empty threat.
Unfortunately, he responded by swinging his hand across my cheek. “You’re fucking threatening me, you twerp?!”
The force knocked me off balance, sending me spinning and crashing into the table. My ears were ringing. My face went numb.
He lunged for my phone before I could even stand up.
I struggled, but he pulled my hair and slammed my arm against the desk.
The pain forced my fingers to loosen. The phone fell.
Harry picked it up and realized there was no recording.
He understood his mistake but didn’t seem to regret hitting his own daughter at all.
In fact, he roared, “You tricked me?! Ha! You really are your mother’s spawn. A scheming bitch through and through!”
I picked up my phone, backed away, and scowled at him.
“You’ll get your just desserts one day, Harry!” 1 snarled.
In that split second, I wanted to kill him and myself–right then and there.
I left, but soon came face–to–face with an unknown woman heading toward where I had just been.
It didn’t take a genius to see that her face had at least some Botox.
She was certainly sexy and curvy–her clothing choice emphasized it. Her perfume was so strong it could knock
someone out.
