The waiters arrived, bringing food almost as soon as I entered. I was surprised to see them.
Soren observed my reaction and explained, “I assumed you’d be hungry. It’s already afternoon, and you still haven’t had lunch. So, right after we finished our call, I had the restaurant start preparing the meal.”
I was touched. He was just as considerate and perfect as I remembered. “Thank you.”
This was the Soren Kenway I knew. I guessed yesterday’s incident had been a simple misunderstanding after all.
“Mr. Kenway, ma’am? We hope you have a lovely afternoon Bon appétit,” the manager said.
“Thank you. Please, only come in if we call for you,” Soren replied, dismissing them with a wave.
They left, closing the door behind them. Suddenly, it was just the two of us in the quiet, private space.
The silence felt a bit awkward–this was the first time we’d seen each other since our first “conflict.”
I glanced at him, unsure of what to say.
Before I could speak, he picked up his fork and knife and suggested, “We should eat first. Everything else can wait.

“Yeah.”
I was hungry. I ate quickly as if there were no tomorrow.
Soren barely touched his food, watching me the entire time. I felt his gaze but pretended not to notice.
As my stomach filled, I slowed down. That’s when he chuckled. “Full already? If not, we can order more.”
I blushed and shot him a look, taking a sip of water. I must have looked so unladylike!
My embarrassment deepened. After swallowing, I muttered, “Yeah, I am-”
Unfortunately, the water was the tipping point. I let out a long belch that was strong enough to almost make me vomit my food.
I quickly covered my mouth, my cheeks burning.
His smile widened.
Embarrassed, I grumbled, “What’s so funny?”
“You looked like a hamster just now,” he replied.
I was at a loss for how to respond.
Thankfully, Soren shifted back to seriousness. “Alright, I should get to the point. Are you sure you can visit the Kenway residence tomorrow?”
I nodded a little stiffly. “I think so.”
“Think so?”
“We can’t predict the future, can we? So I can’t be 100% sure.”
As I said that, I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of trouble Cameron might stir up. But that wasn’t what Soren heard. He thought I was still upset.

Chapter 341
He reached out and took my hand, his expression softening. “Are you still upset about last night?“.
“No.”
“Doesn’t sound like the truth.”
“You’re the one who was upset yesterday,” I pointed out.
He frowned. The gentleness in his eyes faded into something deeper and unreadable.
My heart skipped. Had I offended him?
I was always aware of his duality. Soren was gentle, mild–mannered, and considerate. But he could also be severe, regal, and unyielding. I could never forget the fear in the faces of his subordinates when he simply stared at them.
He had a temper. He tried to keep it hidden, but when it surfaced, I was sure few could handle it.
I stiffened at the change in his expression. But deep down, I knew what the worst–case scenario between us would be.
The gap between our social statuses and my own limitations was too wide. I could never truly be his equal, and I’d always believed we were destined to break up.
I should be grateful we even had this relationship instead of clinging to it, trying to stretch it beyond its natural
end.
With that thought, I relaxed slightly and met his gaze.
We held each other’s eyes for a long moment before he finally admitted, “I was a little upset.”
I waited, letting him continue.
“It seems like I’m the only one trying since the beginning of our relationship–or should I say, even before it started. I don’t blame you for not doing much before we got together. After all, I was the one making an effort to be part of your life.”
