As soon as I opened my mouth, I realized my throat felt dry. It was even more embarrassing now.
Soren laughed, the anger from earlier gone. “Don’t look at me like that, please. You look so innocent and I don’t know if I can control myself after seeing you like this.”
I burned with embarrassment and glared at him. He laughed even harder.
“Are you finally not mad?” I grumbled from his lap.
“I’m still a little mad. But if you kiss me, I’m sure it’ll go away.”
I sneered. “Looks like you’ll have to seethe a little longer.”
He locked his arms around my waist and refused to let me go.

The room was the perfect temperature, so we had removed our coats as soon as we entered. That meant my figure -accentuated by my form–fitting sweater–was on full display.
He measured my waist with his palm. “I can hold your waist with just one hand.”
“Come on. You make me sound like a super hot succubus,” replied.
“You are, though. How else can we explain my falling for you and wanting to be with you for years?”
I couldn’t answer or look him in the eye. Thoughts raced in my mind.
What did he really like about me? Why had he liked me for so long?
I wanted to ask him, but I feared his answers. I wished he was just into my looks or that he wanted to conquer a beautiful woman. I wished I was just a fresh, novel target for him, nothing more.
Maybe, after a while, he’d grow used to my looks and figure, then move on. I wouldn’t mind–we could part as friends.
I kept this option open so I wouldn’t ask anything that might unintentionally reveal there was more to it than that.
In the silence, I yawned and leaned against his shoulder. “Uh–oh. The afternoon slump hits hard after I ate too much. I’m so sleepy…”
“Should I send you home to take a good nap?” he asked in my ear.
I wanted to, but then it would be just the two of us. It wouldn’t matter if we went to his place or mine.
Leave the two of us alone in a room, and things could get steamy fast.
Besides, I was too sleepy to want to move. Thus, I burrowed deeper into his embrace and tried to find a comfortable position. “No, I’ll be fine sleeping here. We can cuddle.”

The nap lasted about 30 minutes. When I woke up, I felt much more refreshed.
