Chapter 366
“Why compare.us with the worst?” Cameron demanded.
“What else should I do–compare you to the richest people in the world?”
Cameron fell silent for a moment. “How could you?”
I couldn’t linger in the restroom, and I didn’t want to be overheard.
I coldly replied, “I’ve already done more than enough by paying for the treatment, so stop pushing your luck. If you keep causing me trouble, I won’t pay another cent–even if you beg me.”
With that, I hung up and walked out.
As expected, Soren was waiting outside.
“You didn’t sound too happy on the phone. Was your stepmother bothering you again?” he asked.
“Mm–hmm, she’s complaining about the hospital conditions.” I didn’t hide it from him this time.
Then, I made one thing clear. “You’re not allowed to help them. I know it’s easy for you, but don’t do it.”
He looked at me warmly and replied, “You think too highly of me. I’m already kind enough not to kick those who bullied you while they’re down. There’s no way I’m helping them.”
His response surprised me.
Back in the living room, Candy continued chatting with Lisbeth. They discussed the upcoming post–New Year fashion shows.
Candy had invited Lisbeth to attend Berrada’s shows, but Lisbeth declined, saying she was too busy.
Just as I sat down, Candy turned to me and said, “Taylor’s brand will also be participating in the Medhelanon Fashion Week. You really should go show her some support”
I was stunned.
What was she up to? Was she trying to force Lisbeth to witness my failure firsthand?
Lisbeth looked at me and asked, “Is this true? Will you be participating as well?”
“Yes, Ms. Lisbeth. I’m flying to Medhelanon tomorrow night,” I replied.
“You’re going on a business trip even though it’s this close to the Brigidlia Festival?”
“Yes, that’s when the Medhelanon Fashion Week has always been scheduled. Honestly, I hadn’t expected to be in a relationship with…” I trailed off, but my glance at Soren made my meaning obvious.
“That must be really hard on you,” Lisbeth remarked.
Candy added, “Taylor is truly impressive at her work. She’s even one of our academy’s most outstanding alumni.”
Well, she caught me off guard again. Did she really just praise me?
Even more unexpected was Soren’s immediate response. “Of course she’s impressive. She’s the person I fell for,
after all.”
Lisbeth and Candy fell silent, and I frowned at him.

“Dude, could you be any more full of yourself? Why would you say something so out of place?” I mouthed at him.
Yet Soren remained unfazed, seemingly unaware of their incredulous expressions.
He took my hand and said, “You go ahead and keep Miss Fileze company, Mom. Taylor and I are stepping out for a bit before she leaves on her business trip.”
In other words, he suggested they continue chatting while we went on our date.
I could clearly see Lisbeth and Candy’s expressions grow increasingly inscrutable, and I couldn’t guess what they were thinking.
After we left the main building, I tugged his arm and grumbled, “Can you stop being so flashy in front of people? I remember when you used to be low–key and reserved. What happened? It’s like you’re a different person now.”
Soren feigned ignorance. “How was I flashy?”
“Wasn’t that compliment flashy enough?” I asked.
“That was just the truth–there was no exaggeration whatsoever,” he replied.
“Uh… fine.”
As impressive as I considered myself, I had to admit that achieving what I had in such a tough environment was no easy feat.
Nevertheless, as our elders said, we should always remain humble.
As he led me outside, I asked, “Are you sure we can leave already?”
