Frankly, I found Lisbeth’s ambiguity far more disappointing than William’s directness.

I assumed he must have witnessed Soren and me being affectionately intimate through the glass partition. I felt embarrassed and already regretted my decision to bring Soren over while working overtime.
“Here are the documents you requested, Miss Jones,” Jamie said as he approached and handed me the files.

We moved to my desk and began working immediately.
Meanwhile, Soren lounged in the sitting area, alternating between checking his phone, flipping through magazines, and wandering over to the bookshelf to inspect the displayed awards and certificates.
Every so often, I glanced his way, and he would catch my gaze, always smiling in response.

He chuckled. “What’s wrong? Is it that my every move tugs at your heartstrings, making it hard for you to focus?” I rolled my eyes in exasperation, though a hint of tenderness lingered in my chest. I decided to ignore him.
So much for being reserved, mysterious, and composed–all merely a facade for strangers. In reality, he was arrogant, flamboyant, thick–skinned, and even a bit petty.
All afternoon, while I worked, he roamed the office.
Whenever I glanced his way, he immediately rushed over and asked, “Are you done already, or do you just miss me?”
I shot him a glare and returned to my work.
By 6:00 p.m., I finally wrapped things up.
Jamie knocked again and entered. “Miss Jones, I’ve finished my part. We’ll hold a meeting tomorrow morning to finalize the arrangements, and then we can depart by noon.
