Chapter 375
The two of us sat under a romantic, starry sky late at night, sipping tea by the fire.
Everything felt so perfect–1 didn’t want it to end.
But at the last moment, Sorne let go of me. “Taylor… snap out of it. Otherwise… it might actually happen tonight.”
He s stepped back slightly, playfully tracing a finger down my nose in warning
1 blinked, dazed, staring into the brilliance and warmth of His gaze.
For a moment, I seriously considered forgetting everything else and taking him right then and there.
“You’d better not regret missing out on this opportunity, Soren,” I teased, blushing as I nestled into his arms.
“I won’t. We have all the time in the world,” he declared ja deep voice as he tightened his embrace and kissed me again, leaving trails of warmth in his wake.
I was drowning in his gentle affection.
Neither of us wanted to part, so we fell asleep together on the lounge chair in the sunroom, curled up against each other until 3:00 am.
At some point, Soren stirred, worried I might catch a chill.
Still half–asleep, I barely noticed when he lifted me into his arms and carried me to the bedroom.
“Soren…” I murmured as I sank into the comfort of the bed
I felt his lips press gently to my forehead before the mattress dipped beside me.
Then the door clicked shut, and I drifted into a peaceful slumber.
At that moment, I felt no anxiety, no unease, not even heartbreak.
All I could feel was how Soren, ever the gentleman, showed me the utmost respect, never letting desire override his restraint–not even then.
The next morning, Soren first took me home to change before driving me to the office.
Just as I was about to get out of the car, he caught my hand and pulled me in for a kiss.
His voice was low, warm with affection and a hint of reluctance. “What time are you leaving this afternoon? I’ll take you.”
“It’s alright,” I said gently. “I know you’re swamped with work, especially with your deadlines. You don’t need to keep pushing things aside for me.”
I looked at him with warmth and gratitude. I appreciated the gesture but truly didn’t think it was necessary,
Still, he was so adorably clingy that his flirty side came out I insist. This’ll be the first time we’re apart for so long since we made it official.
“And you haven’t even left yet, but I already miss you.”
I laughed so hard my shoulders shook. “Do you even hear how cheesy you sound? You’re starting to turn into a cliché, you know?”

“Is it really that bad?”
“I’m joking. You’re definitely not cliché. In fact, you’re the most handsome man in the entire city, Mr. Kenway.”
We shamelessly flirted back and forth. If not for the looming time crunch, we probably would’ve stayed in the car being lovey–dovey right up until my flight.
“I’m leaving at 3:00 p.m., so if you really want to send me off, I won’t stop you. But for now, I’ve got to wrap up a few things.” With that, I pushed open the car door and stepped out.
Soren waved. “See you this afternoon.”
“Okay, bye–bye.”
I picked up the pace and headed upstairs to dive into work.
My phone rang just before noon.
It was Jean
“Guess who I ran into outside?” she asked.
Still sorting through documents, I put her on speaker. “Who? Please don’t tell me it’s one of my enemies.”
She wouldn’t call just to ask something like that otherwise.
“Wrong. I ran into Sol, and we’re about to have lunch together. Wanna join?”
I paused, glancing at the clock on the wall. It was 11:30 am
Thanks to Jamie’s efficiency, most of the work had already been handled. But now that I was in charge, I couldn’t help being hands–on–double–checking everything out of sheer compulsion.
Still, I figured I could spare two hours.
“Can you two come somewhere near my office?” I asked. “Soren dropped me off this morning, so I don’t have my car. And I’m flying out at 3:00 p.m., so I’m a bit pressed for time.”
