The house was so vast it made me feel small and isolated. A sense of unease crept in, and before long, I felt a surge
of fear.
Thankfully, they soon sent Bullet with a delicious dinner. “Mr. Kenway wanted you to have this without him.”
“Alright. Thank you.“.
I returned to the dining room and sat down to eat with Bullet.
There was still much to do. I had ahead.

I quickly finished my meal, booted up my laptop, and got to work.
While the flight had been long, I’d had Soren’s company and the comfort of first–class seating. It had actually been quite relaxing. I’d also managed to nap on the way to the villa, so despite the late hour, I was still alert. Jetlag and the nap had worked wonders.
It was past 1:00 a.m., and still, there was no sign of Soren.
Anxiety began to set in. Was something wrong at the Kenways‘?
I washed up and lay down on the bed, grabbing a random book to distract myself.
By 2:00 a.m., I heard the sound of a car pulling into the driveway.
I’d been trying to work off any sleepiness, but that sound completely erased it. I jumped out of bed, threw the curtains open, and peered out.
Soren was back!
As if sensing me, he looked up. Our eyes met, and a smile touched our lips.
I was already waiting by the elevator when he arrived. As soon as he stepped out, I rushed toward him, my lips finding his without hesitation.
At that moment, I realized he’d made the smarter choice. If I’d gone back to my place, I wouldn’t have slept a wink. I was in love and couldn’t bear to be apart from him.
We kissed all the way to the bedroom, tumbling onto the bed.
He gently combed my hair. “Why aren’t you sleeping? Were you waiting for me?”
“Nah. I napped on the way here. That’s why,” I lied.
Soren, clever as always, didn’t believe me. “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”
“Your pants are on fire, you mean.”
“Are they?”
I nudged him playfully. “Go take a shower and get some sleep already. Any longer and you’ll be wide awake all night.”
“Okay. You rest first,” he said, kissing me before rolling out of bed.

I pulled the blanket over myself, listening to the sound of his shower. I couldn’t help but imagine his rock–hard, sexy body.

Just as he was about to finish, he suddenly stopped. “T–Tay?”

I blinked at him, confused at first, before the realization hit me.
He didn’t stay here often. I’d never been here until today.
