I knew my sperm donor was going to come for me with a vengeance. I was prepared.
“Please, in the realm of marital affairs, you’re a repeat offender. How could you say I did this to you?” I replied. ” Besides, your wife and son were the ones who sent you to jail. Technically.”
“How else could she have known if you didn’t tell her?!” he barked.
“Well, she is my mom who raised me too. Technically. I reported the case out of the kindness of my heart. You should praise me for it instead,” I shot back, feeling pretty pleased with myself.
“Feeling smug with your smart mouth, bitch? I should have strangled you when you were a baby!”
Was this the sort of thing a father should say? I seriously thought he hadn’t been locked up long enough.
“Did you call just to shout at me? ‘Cause if you’re done, goodbye,” I said, disappointed.
He stopped me.
“What? Not feeling enough? You need to be careful. If you rupture a blood vessel from your fiery temper, your wife and children might belong to someone else!” I snarked
“Shut the fuck up! I’m asking if you’ve got your mom’s bracelet!”
Oh, so this was why.
“Don’t tell me you want that bracelet too.”
“Let Maddie wear it for a few days, girl, and I’ll transfer all of the shares that belonged to your mom,” he suddenly proposed, his tone almost generous.
I hesitated. While helping Sarah fight the Zacks, I had learned that Harry’s company was reporting record losses too. His “generosity” was likely a tactic to mitigate his company’s risks by involving me.
My silence seemed to panic him. “You demanded money and shares back then. When I refused, you set me up! So why are you acting differently now?”
“Because the bracelet is worth 40,000,000 dollars. Mom’s shares altogether couldn’t hope to compare to it,” I answered.
“40,000,000 dollars?!” Harry cried out.
I heard another man’s voice in the background and instantly recognized it as Edward’s.
So that was why Harry had been released earlier than scheduled. Edward must have used his connections. And now, they were working together to get the bracelet.
Edward fucking sucked.
After some whispering, Harry returned, shock evident in his voice. “Since when do you know Sor personally?!”
“Didn’t you arrange for him to show up at the wedding? Why did he come?” I asked back.

Richard was the heir of the Rockefellers and the CEO of Roller Media The Rennedys worked with them a lot it was why they were invited.
But how had the invitation ended up in Seren’s hands? We they friends? Had Richard asked him to attend the wedding on his behalf?
That seemed ridiculous. If Richard couldn’t make it, they could have just sent a secretary. Why would they possibly ask someone of superior status to replace them?
