At least, it wasn’t a lie. Honestly, I felt almost grateful for her illness–it gave me the perfect excuse.
“I thought you two weren’t close,” Soren remarked.
“She’s dying. You can’t exactly hold grudges against someone halfway to the grave, right? Family is family.”
God, I could have moved myself to tears with that excuse.
“Hmm. I understand,” he replied.
“How about I send my assistant and the design manager to you? You can give them your feedback, and I’ll make adjustments accordingly,” I suggested.
I decided Cherry couldn’t go alone–it wouldn’t be safe. She’d need someone with her.
One of our colleagues, a gym enthusiast with impressive muscles, came to mind. He’d be perfect for the job.
