Now, a man who looked just like him had me in his arms. How was I supposed to resist the urge to kiss him? I gulped and stretched my neck toward him, feeling his chin brush against my lips. His barely visible stubble pricked me, and it tickled.
I wanted to go further–toward his lips–but he pulled away as though I were repulsive.
“Oh, are you shy?” I mumbled. “I thought things like this were part of the job…”

I shoved him aside and leaned against the door, fast asleep.
I had no idea how long that took. All I knew was that the door opened. Losing my support, I stumbled forward before a strong chest caught me. I was jolted awake, groggy.
“Taylor, you’ve made it home. Let me take you to your unit. Can you walk?” His polite voice came from above me.
I couldn’t even lift my head… let alone walk. I mumbled something, but I didn’t remember what.
He replied, “Then please excuse me for this.”
Suddenly, I felt myself lifted into the air. He cradled me in a bridal carry.
I felt like a toddler in my mom’s arms. Pressing my face against his neck, I murmured, “Mommy…”
I had no idea how we entered the room. All I knew was that once I was placed on the couch in the living room, my awareness returned, just a little.
I didn’t accept the water he handed me.
“Who are you? How did you know where my house is?” I asked, leaning against the back of the couch.

It was such a kind gesture that I couldn’t help but believe he was Soren.
