I threw up so violently that the world started spinning. Then, once I was done, I collapsed into sleep, feeling like a deflated balloon.
I had no idea what happened after that. Honestly, I thought threw up two more times. More importantly, I had no idea when the man left me.
I’d been losing sleep lately, and sleeping pills hadn’t helped
But this time? God, I slept as soundly as the dead. Thanks, alcohol.
I didn’t fully return to the living until late morning when I rolled off the couch and kissed the cold, hard floor.
I sat up and scanned my surroundings, confused.
I tried to remember what had happened the night before. Jean had thrown me a birthday party and even hired some hosts. We had drunk a lot and had fun….
And then what?
I vaguely remembered seeing Soren. I had even cuddled and kissed him.
Eh, that had to be a dream. This was probably what it felt like to have fragmented memories due to alcohol. My brain felt like it had just been rebooted.
A splitting headache hit me. I struggled to climb back onto the couch, sinking weakly into it. I stared into space. My ringing phone jolted me out of my stupor. I found it and answered.
‘Hello, Cherry? I’m feeling under the weather. I’ll come in after noontime. Yeah. Thanks, bye.”
I noticed several missed calls–Cherry’s, Jean’s, a few from the higher–ups at work, and Harry’s.
Harry? I suddenly remembered the board meeting today to announce my partial ownership and shareholder status in his company. I would have to reschedule that.
There were several unread messages as well. My friends were worried since I hadn’t been online by 10:30 a.m. this morning. Just the group chat alone had over 500 unread messages.
I skimmed through them..
I wanted to die. Oh God, was that crazy chick… me?! I was cuddling the young men as I danced and sang. I even had them lined up to spread butter on them.
I covered my face with my hands, my toes fidgeting. How embarrassing!
My friends were discussing my absence. Some thought I must still be sleeping. Others said they were worried and wanted to check on me at home.
No way! I was not in the mood or state of mind to see anyone.
Me: [I’m up, gals. Don’t worry!]
Alex and the others immediately “advised” me to keep the photos and videos for the future. I ignored them out of embarrassment and told them my headache was too bad to talk.
After lying on the couch for a while, I couldn’t stand my stench anymore, so I decided to take a shower. Afterward, I went to the pantry for some water.

That’s when I found a note tucked under my water bottle. I stared at it, a bolt of electricity running through my
spine.
[I made some chicken soup to help with your hangover. Don’t leave your stomach empty. Soren.]
Soren?!
My brain felt like it had been struck by lightning and burned to ash. It took me a while to process it, but eventually, the buzzing in my head began to fade.
Did Soren really come here? Did he drive me home?
