They were both the same.
No one was innocent. No one could escape the blame.
Thick snow fell outside, blanketing the city and streets in white at night.
Damian even forgot his coat as he wandered out of his home, driving to see Seraphina’s mentor Skylar. The elderly Healer could only sigh with a headshake.
“It’s not that I don’t want to tell you. The training program’s location is strictly confidential. Only the participants know the place and their progress. I only took Seraphina and the others to the gathering point. Once they left for the training facility, I no longer had any authority to follow them.”

Damian’s voice was hoarse and hollow. “There has to be a way… There must be a way to find her.”
Skylar sighed.
“Alpha Damian, let me be honest with you. The secrecy is there to protect the werewolves whose souls were shattered when their mate bonds broke. Any outside interference, especially from the one who rejected them, could cause their Wolf Soul to disperse completely and they even fall into a permanent torpor. If you truly care for her, respect her choice. Don’t try to find
her again. That’s the only way she can survive.”
Damian’s eyes trembled.
The snowfall in the dark night froze the city into silver white. It seemed to have frozen him solid, too. He stood there, numb,
unable to even move his fingers.
Seraphina was gone.
He didn’t even have the right to look for her.
Skylar turned and shut the door.
In this land of ice and snow, Damian was finally alone.
No. There was one more.
He looked back and saw Ethan standing under a distant streetlamp. Their eyes met, and under the cold light, they saw the same despair in each other.
Damian suddenly remembered something.
Many years ago, there was a snowstorm just like this at the orphanage.
Twelve–year–old Seraphina had her only piece of bread stolen and was sobbing in the snow, almost choking. Damian wrapped her in his arms, kissed her forehead, and made a solemn promise:
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here. I’ll become the Alpha and protect you forever.”
It seemed… He had broken his word.
