Chapter 42
Evalina got ready and rushed to Hugo’s office building She’d been married to Hugo for a while, but she hardly ever visited him here.
The receptionist stopped her. “Got an appointment?” she asked.
Tm Mrs. Hayes, Hugo’s wife. Do I need an appointment to see my own husband!” Evalina questioned.
The receptionist sneered, looking her up and down. This ain’t a place for your drama. We know who Mrs. Hayes is. You think we’re gonna fall for this?” After that breaking news, everyone in the company thought Olive was Hugo’s marriage and she was pregnancy,
Evalina chuckled. Why don’t you just call Hugo?” she suggested.
“Whoa, young lady. We get plenty of women like you here every month. You’re probably the best actress yet, the receptionist mocked. They were sick of fan girls chasing after Hugo
She called security and shouted, “Hey, get this crazy lady out of here.”
The security guard approached. Evalina took a deep breath. I really am Mrs. Hayes. If you don’t believe me, I’ll call Hugo right now,” she told him.
Seeing her dial, the guard and receptionist paused. ‘Could it be true! Her expression and actions seem pretty convincing if she is lying”
The phone rang twice, but Hugo just rejected it. Evalina tried again, only to find she had been blocked.
“‘Hugo‘ Evalina cursed him in her mind. “What a sneaky guy!”
“No way.
couldn’t
‘t get through? You’re quite the actress among these fan girls,” the receptionist scoffed. “Get her out of here.”
The guards grabbed Evalina and started leading her away
“You guys… I really am… Evalina pushed the guard away, exclaiming. “You don’t believe me? Hugo, get out here! Don’t make me post our photos online. Then everyone will know your secrets! You’re not that powerful in bed, are you?”
The bystanders looked shocked. “Is she serious?” one muttered.
Tm not kidding! You think I’m the fake Mrs. Hayes? I’m the one who goes to the doctor with Hugo all the time. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you the appointment records, Evalina shouted.
More people started gossiping.
“Could it be true?”
“She sounds pretty convincing…
“But would the real Mrs. Hayes really say that stuff?”
Hugo’s assistant burst in, all sweate
all sweaty and out of breath. “Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Hayes showed up,” he panted.
Hugo had figured she would pop in sooner or later. But what was the point now? “Tell her I don’t have time. She can bounce,” he snapped.
“But… she’s downstairs, saying she’ll post some… uh, private pics online if you don’t see her, Jacob stammered.
“What the Hugo’s eyes popped. Have I just heard that right? Could she really have those pics? His mind was racing, and for the first time he wasn’t sure if she was bluffing or not
fu a flash, Hugo was on his feet and striding out.
The receptionist in the lobby was all riled up. “This lady’s spewing nonsense. Get her out of here! She’s clearly lost it, probably ‘cause she couldn’t get a meeting with our boss,” she huffed.
But just then. Hugo strode in, his gaze as sharp as a luwk’s, and the room went ice cold. “Evalina,” he said, his vo
voice like a block of ice.
