Chapter 46
Fiona
Everything in me fights against her words.
She has to be lying, my heart tells me.
Ethan didn’t want to have dinner together for the past two nights, my head argues.
He wouldn’t do that to us, my heart says.
He’s goes off on his own a lot at night, my head adds. And he doesn’t tell us what he’s doing
But Ethan is trying to do better. He wouldn’t lie to us, my heart responds.

Shaking my head, I shove away the confusion and focus on the irritating woman in front of me. She’s still watching me with a sharp, overly confident expression on her face. I don’t know what her problem is, but I don’t want her to think she can walk all over me.
“Why should I believe that you’ve been with Ethan. It’s been a year since you broke up.” I tell her. Maybe I can get her to admit she’s lying or at least annoy her enough to make her leave. I’m not sure if I should believe her. I told Ethan we should have more trust between us, but he already has a history with this woman.
She laughs and shakes her head.
“Wednesday, Ethan called me from work,” she says, and I think back to Wednesday. Ethan did take an unscheduled personal call after lunch. “He asked if I wanted to have dinner, and of course, I agreed. Who wouldn’t? He’s yummy.”
She flicks her tongue out, licking her lips and moaning. It makes my stomach roll over as I remember Ethan’s words from Wednesday.
I’m busy tonight but maybe another time,” he’d said when I asked him if he wanted to get dinner. He didn’t explain what he was doing, and there was nothing on his schedule for the night.
“We ate at his house. The staff was so welcoming, even asking if I wanted anything special for dinner like they always do.
Butler Evans even offered to make me a gluten free bread option which was so sweet that he remembered I don’t eat gluten,” she tells me, clasping her hands endearingly over her heart.
The more she talks, the more my stomach sinks.
Without meaning to, I take a step back.
“We had a few drinks throughout the dinner, and one thing led to another,” she says, wiggling her brows again. “I’d forgotten how skilled Ethan is in bed. He’s such an amazing lover. Attentive and just rough enough to bring all sorts of pleasure. And I love the way his hands hold you down as he plows into you from behind.”
She hums pleasurably, her eyes rolling back in her head while she thinks about Ethan.
My mind does the same as images of Ethan entering me as I was bent over his desk. The way his big hands had clamped around my waist as he-
I shook my head. That doesn’t mean anything. She could still be lying.
“And the way he uses his fingers to-
“Stop,” I order, cutting her off. I can’t listen to any more of her prattling.

“What?” She taunts, crossing her arms over her chest. “Can’t deal with the fact that Ethan would choose someone else because you can’t give him what he needs?”
She smirks and leans in, getting closer to my face than I’d like.

“Don’t think I don’t know how you’ve slept your way into his company. Angela has kept me up to date on anyone who tries to makes moves on my man,” she sneers, shoving me back. Again, I stagger, my back colliding with the wall.
“It doesn’t matter what you say,” I tell her, straightening up and trying to sound confident despite the dread squeezing my chest. “I want to talk to Ethan because nothing you say has any weight with me. Now, let me through.”
The woman cackles, throwing her head back exaggeratedly.
“Ethan wouldn’t keep a slut like you around any longer than he had to. He needed a bit of relief, but now that I’m back, he doesn’t need you anymore. Don’t you understand that?” She questions, shoving her finger into my chest. Pain sprouts where her fingernail digs into my skin, but I do my best to ignore her hurtful words.
Darting to the side, I move around her and head toward the locker room door. I want to hear what Ethan has to say. We promised to trust each other, and I won’t let this woman’s words confuse me.
I force myself to stay calm as she follows behind me. I’m only a few steps away when the security guard stops me, his fingers wrapping around my arm as he pulls me back.
“You’re not getting in there, little girl,” he demands, “Not unless you can convince me otherwise.”
His smirk and the way his hand slides closer to my breast makes me realize what he wants.
“Get your hands off me,” I order. He doesn’t release me. Instead, his grip tightens around my shoulder, pressing painfully into my collar bone.
“Don’t let her fool you, Damon. I have good information that this little slut will sleep with you if you offer her enough of a benefit,” Ethan’s ex says, and the man smiles.
“Is that true?”
He spins me around, pinning me to the wall and letting his hands roam down to my waist. I shove against him, looking ` around to see if anyone can help me.
Where the heck are the real security guards?
“You have no business with anyone inside, but if you want in, you can talk to me,” the guard says, leaning in. “What do you need him for when I’m right here.” He moves closer, trapping against the wall, and I freeze. His erection pushes against my leg as he presses his face into my neck.
Ethan’s ex laughs when I try to free myself from the man’s hold.
“Just let him have what he wants, little whore. You owe me for trying to take my man, and Damon here will collect for me.”
“No! Let me go,” I demand, planting my hands in the man’s chest and pushing with all my strength. He’s twice my size and much heavier, so he doesn’t budge. The man is a solid weight I won’t be able to move.
“I’m Ethan’s personal secretary, I announce, hoping it will make them back off. “I have his phone…” the man looks up at me, listening. “And he’s expecting me. If you don’t let me go, you’ll be in trouble with Ethan Montgomery as well as have sexual assault charges brought against you.”
The guard’s eyes narrow on me as he moves back a bit. He glances at Ethan’s ex with a questioning gaze. She scoffs and shakes her head, but it gives me the chance I need. I throw my knee up and slam it into his crotch.
When he stumbles back, I move away from the wall so they won’t corner me again. However, just as my fingers brush the

“That was a mistake girlie,” the man growls, dragging me back by my hair. “You are not getting into that locker room without paying for what you just did.”
