“Let me go!” I shout at the man holding me. His fingers dig into my arm and the knife at my throat reminds me of the death awaiting me if I try to escape.
How could I not try, though? Ethan is fighting for both of our lives.
A pained howl breaks through the snarling, and I gasp Jameson’s teeth sink into Ethan’s shoulder just as Ethan’s sink into Jameson’s back. Blood spurts from both animals, adding to the crimson river on the floor.
“Ethan!” I scream, lunging forward,
Pain burns my neck, but I ignore it, watching as Ethan stumbles to the side. It almost looks like he’s drunk. A drunk wolf, but that’s not it.
“What did you do to him?” I growl, spinning on the man holding me. He just smirks and shoves me further away from Ethan. Digging my heels into the ground, I hit the man as hard as my bound hands will let me

My body slams back into the wall before I know what’s happening, and I gasp as all the air leaves my lungs.
“Maybe I should get a sample of what’s making him fight so hard” my captor jibes, tugging my shirt up to reveal my stomach.
A snarl sounds behind him, and we both turn our eyes. Ethan’s wolf charges toward us, murder in his eyes and blood dripping from his mouth. My stomach drops at the sight, fear and relief filling me, until Jameson’s wolf slams into Ethan’s. sending them both rolling back into the fighting ring
My chest tightens, my breaths puffing out in short gasps. The gray wolf wrestles Ethan’s darker wolf to the ground, pinning

“NO!” I scream, thrashing. I hit, claw, and even bite the man pushing me against the wall, but he doesn’t budge. His eyes are trained on the fight now, not on me, which offer me a bit of relief, but not much.

‘s going to die if he keeps going like this. Even if Ethan defeats this wolf, there are more men waiting on the edges to jump in and fight.
Enthusiastic shouts and whistles echo around the room, ringing in my ears. The volume is so loud that I can’t hear my own breathing. I vibrates with their enthusiasm the eagerness to kill- to murder while my body begins to shake for another reason entirely.
Ethan’s eyes are closed.
His wolf is motionless.
“E–Ethan!” I cry, a pain deep in my chest tearing through me.

The men around me laugh, and the sound makes me feel small and insignificant, and scared when I realize Ethan still hasn’t moved. Is he breathing” I can’t see his chest from here because I’m too far away and there’s ten men between me and him.
The gray wolf circles around me, but my eyes are on Ethan, watching and waiting for any sign of life. Any sign of hope.

Agony flares in my leg, making me scream and my legs buckle. My knees hit the ground with a crack. Claw marks, four of them, stretch up from my ankle to my lower shin Blood pours from the wounds just as the tears pour from my eyes.
Then, just as my vision starts to go hazy from the pain, a black and brown furry body collides with the gray wolf. They roll arrow the floor, snarling and biting, until they stop
And Ethan’s wolf is on top, his teeth on the gray wolf’s throat
The relief that floods my body chokes me
The man holding me finally releases me, and I fully drop to the floor, gry legs and arms giving out beneath me
“Montgomery, if you kill him, Alpha Moore will come for you” my captor warns, taking a slow step toward Ethan’s wolf
The answering growl makes the man stop in his tracks and has me lifting my head from the cold concrete. Ethan’s teeth clamp down on the gray wolf’s neck at the same time his claws dig into the wolf’s chest.
Fear curls into a tight all in my chest, pressing down on my lungs. Would Ethan really kill him?
“Stop” A hand curls in my hair and yanks me up to my knees, making me shriek
Ethan’s head whips up, teeth releasing his opponent.
“Let him go and you can have your mate back. If not.” The man trails off, and the familiar cold blade presses to my throat again. “Til kill her right here”
It’s like time stops for a moment. No one moses. No one dares to breathe. We all freeze where we are, staring each other down and waiting for someone else to make the first move. I watch Ethan, my eyes falling on every bloody, matted section

After what seems like hours, Ethan’s wolf steps down. While he moves, fur sinks back into skin, bones rearrange with awful cracking sounds, and eyes change from yellow to green
“Take him and the rest of your wounded. If you ever return to my territory or touch my mate again, you will die.” Ethan shouts, las body wavering slightly, but then he straightens and points at the man holding me. “And if you do not take your hand off her in the next three seconds, you will not live to the see the next sunrise.”
A shiver rolls over me, but the man does as Ethan says. His hand disappears from my hair, and I slump forward.
“Let’s go!” My kidnapper shouts, and just like that, the men around us scurry toward the door at the end of the warehouse. My captor scoops up the gray wolf and follows, glancing back once to make sure Ethan doesn’t follow him.
Within minutes, they’ve disappeared through the door, and the moment they’re gone, Ethan collapses to his knees with a groan.. Now that he’s a man again. I see the claw and teeth marks all over his torso.
I push past the fear threatening to drown me and crawl to him.
“Fiona, Ethan rasps, lifting a hand and cupping my cheek. With his free hand, he slices his claws through the rope around my wrists. Then, his hands are gently running over my body.
“You’re not okay,” he growls “You’re hurt.”
His eyes lock in on the claw marks on my ankle before ming to meet my eyes. I shake my head, wanting to be brave. He’s hurt so much more than I am. Thave minor injuries compared to the gashes that litter his skin.
A growl vibrates from his chest, making me jump and squeak with fear.
“We need to leave, Ethan mutters, pushing himself up. I wedge myself under his arm, acting as a crutch and helping him walk through the warehouse.
