The design director repeated with a smile.
“Ms. Coleman, I said we’ve invited the up–and–coming designer, Ms. Sophia Williams, to collaborate on this year’s art exhibition.”
Before long, Sophia Williams came in person.
Jack Sullivan came too.
I first saw Jack Sullivan in the conference room and was about to turn and leave, but Sophia Williams, coming from the other direction, blocked my way.

“Ms. Coleman, I’ve told Jack it’s too much trouble to set up an art exhibition for me, but he insists on helping me realize my dream. By the way, collaborating with your company is also a way of supporting your business.”
When Sophia Williams said this, there wasn’t a hint of shame in her eyes.
As soon as we entered the conference room, Jack Sullivan hurriedly stood up to help Sophia.
I sensed something was off.
I carefully examined Sophia Williams.
Loose clothing, flat shoes, light makeup.
Could she be pregnant?
“Mia Coleman, Sophia is pregnant now. You’d better watch what you say and not upset her.”
I rolled my eyes at Jack Sullivan.
Sophia sat down and looked at me somewhat embarrassedly:
“Mia, Jack is just too worried about me.”
I was speechless.
I looked down at the proposal they had brought.
My company is large with a wide range of services, but our fees are also high.

I knew Jack Sullivan came here looking for a free ride.
Talking about realizing her dream, but using my money to make a wedding dress for someone else.
Scumbag!
Before he could speak, I cut straight to the point.
“It’s not easy to find a venue for Ms. Williams‘ art exhibition right now.”
“Mia Coleman, you’re a CEO. Can’t you handle such a small matter?”
I sneered coldly: “Sure, five million dollars.”
“Mia Coleman! You’re abusing your power!”
Jack Sullivan suddenly raised his voice.
I sarcastically twisted my lips:
“Fine, if you can’t afford it, please find someone else.”
I called my assistant to show them out.

.
Jack Sullivan’s face turned ashen, and Sophia Williams beside him looked embarrassed.
Jack Sullivan hesitated for a moment, then pulled me into my office.
“Mia, don’t be so domineering, okay? I know you’re still angry with me.”
I felt irritated:
“Jack Sullivan, we’re divorced. We have no relationship anymore. What right do you have to order me around? Who do you think you are?”
Jack Sullivan’s face turned pale.
Back when I insisted on marrying him, my father was so angry he ended up in the hospital and immediately announced that I wouldn’t be
taking over the company.
What they didn’t know was that I had started my own business in college.
I had been running a planning company, which had now grown to a considerable size.
At the time, I told Jack Sullivan that this was just a small company my father had given me to manage as a test.
“Mia, Sophia used to be your good friend. She’s also been urging me to make amends with you. She thinks you still have feelings for me. If you didn’t care, why would you act like this?”
When people are speechless, they really can laugh out loud.
Jack Sullivan was startled by my laughter, his eyes wide open.
He took out a jewelry box from his pocket and handed it to me.
“Mia, don’t be like this. This is a gift for you. Can you forgive me?”
It was Tiffany & Co. again, but clearly, he hadn’t put as much thought into it as Ethan had.
I opened it with some disgust and laughed even louder.
The necklace was obviously not new, most likely worn by Sophia Williams before.

I tossed it aside.
“Jack Sullivan, when did you and Sophia Williams start?”
“In high school, right?”
“She was supposed to be gathering information about you for me, but you fell in love with her instead.”
The more I spoke, the more my heart ached.
“It’s ridiculous. After all these years, I was the only one who didn’t know.”
“Mia, what I had with her is in the past. Sophia’s health isn’t good. She just needs someone to be with her. Once she recovers, she’ll go back to living abroad. She won’t continue to interfere with us.”

I narrowed my eyes, scrutinizing him.
Mentally, I slapped myself.
All these years of sincere love had been wasted on a dog, and I had been blind to it all.
