Chapter 110 Darius‘ POV 15 vouchers Five hours later, I waited at the gates for Ryker to arrive. I kept on checking the time impatiently. I wasn’t waiting for Ryker, I was waiting for the person coming back with Ryker. My woman! My Angell Reina asked about her mama this afternoon and I promised her she would see her mama before going to bed. Six hours later, Ryker arrived at the pack’s gate. He had one car and one bus with him. I took a deep breath and waited, counting every second he took before he got out of the car. Ryker stopped at fifteen feet away from me. To other werewolves, that was normal but to someone like us who belonged to a brotherhood, it meant something else was happening. It meant someone had done a terrible thing to the other person. “What is this Ryker? I said, five hours and you took six hours before getting here,” He shrugged. “Something came up and I couldn’t make it within five hours. My pack to this place is farther than you think,” I gritted my teeth. “Are you ready?” I asked. There was no need for me to keep talking when I knew I had far more important things to sort out. Right after I made the phone call to him, Mason changed the original plan we had. The original plan was to lure Ryker into the pack after he handed over Angela to me while I also fulfill my side of the bargain. I’ll take the time to invite him in and give him some documents to sign while we wait for one of Ryker’s worst enemies, The Werewolf King. The one person who saved me and I believed I could trust was busy liaising with the biggest enemy of my life last night just a few metres away from me. I took a deep breath and removed my finger from my mouth. Being nervous wouldn’t help. Chapter 107 Darius‘ POV The following morning at dawn, a sad knock resounded on the door. I hadn’t. slept a wink all night. I had to first come up with a plan together with Mason to lure Ryker out of his hideout. Once Mason and I were done, I went to Reina’s room. She was sleeping soundly, which was something I was grateful for. I thought Reina wouldn’t be able to sleep since Angela wasn’t home but I was proud of my princess. I went back to the study room and kept on staring at the clock. I couldn’t even close my eyes to sleep. It’s been five years, if not six, since I last felt her presence within me. The day I left the pack was when I left my wolf behind as well. It was with me for a few days after I did but I ignored it so terribly I acted as though it was invisible till it actually became invisible. Food was brought to my table and I kept on staring at it as if it grew two heads. I was famished but I could swear the food was poisoned or worse, laced with wolfsbane. I couldn’t take the risk. I could go back home after shedding some weight but I couldn’t afford to go back home dead. I took the bottled water I could trust and drank some from it. “It’ll really be stupid of you to think the water isn’t poisoned but the food is,” Ryker asked, a fork in his mouth. I wished I could remove that fork and stab him in the eyes. “I’m not hungry,” I lied. “Sure but just know, it’s easier to lace the water with poison than the food. That was taught in assassination class 1 and I’m sure your mate is familiar with that topic,” I never envisioned Ryker as a man of many words and in all honesty, since I met him, he hasn’t said much. All that came out of his mouth were death threats. Chapter 103  Angela’s POV I was left in the basement for a few hours all alone. I’d never been so scared of anyone the way I was scared of Ryker. The word ‘scared‘ couldn’t seem to describe just how I felt. Maybe petrified could capture it. He asked me what I was useful for and I didn’t find the right answer for him. I kept my mouth shut and watched as he walked away, some of his men behind him. I didn’t know why I didn’t cry. Maybe I was too scared to cry or I was too tired to cry. My heart went to Reina. She had asked me not to leave but I did. I hope she would be able to forgive me for not listening to her. My poor baby! She would be all alone wondering where her mama went. I picked up the bottle of water left in the basement and contemplated drinking it. As I brought it to my lips, the thought of it being poisoned crossed my mind and I had no choice but to throw it across the room. The basement door opened again and two hefty men walked into the room. I panicked. “What’s going on?” I asked as they both walked towards me. No one answered my question. Instead, they gripped me by my arms and dragged me out of the room. “Where are you taking me to?” I asked and no one gave a response again. “Help me! Somebody help me!” I screamed. One of them looked back at me with a glare that was so scary I sealed my mouth shut. I couldn’t even look around the house I was being dragged through. It was almost empty but it was a majestic mansion. A new room was opened and I was thrown into it. Before I could get up from the floor, I heard the door being locked from outside. I stood up with a limp and began hitting the door, hoping someone would be kind enough to open the door. After several minutes of knocking, I gave up and sat on the floor. I took a better look at the room. There was a small bed that could barely accommodate one person. A table and chair by the corner. A blurry mirror and a bathroom. I walked closer to the window to see if it was locked. Fortunately, it wasn’t. I was so happy as I unlatched the window pane open. I was finally going to escape. Το my shock, as I looked down, fear gripped me. I was probably on the third or fourth floor of the building. If I tried escaping, I wouldn’t leave here alive. I crumbled back to the floor and took a deep breath. Losing hope so early wouldn’t help. Chapter 102 Darius POV I threw a hard punch in Mason’s face and he staggered back. I’d first waited for Reina to return to her room before I launched the attack. Mason fell to the ground and I could see the surprise on his face. I’d never punched him other than the day when we were in training. We never even got into an argument that could lead to throwing punches at each other but I couldn’t control my anger. My wolf was on the edge. Chapter 101 Darius POV I paced my study impatiently as I tried connecting all the events that had happened so far. From Mason’s disappearance to the plan I formulated with the brothers to Brittany’s attack and now, to Angela’s kidnapping. It appeared to me that in the middle of it all was Ryker. I’d always known Ryker was more dangerous than I was. He had nothing to lose but I had people to lose and each time, he used those people against me, rendering me useless and of course, making a fool out of me. Zack must’ve been working with Ryker. I might’ve trained with Ryker but I couldn’t know how despicable he was. The fact that he could join forces with a bloody vampire to take down another alpha was unfathomable. He knew he couldn’t attack the pack but he could shake our foundation, which was me, so hard the entire building, which was the pack, would come crashing down. He was smart. smarter than I’d ever given him credit for.
