Chapter 97 Too Bad  Amber walked up with a fake friendly smile, tapping the takeout bag. “Is this all you’re eating? I thought Dominic would treat you better, but it looks like he doesn’t.” Bella tried to ignore her and opened her takeout bag, but Amber knocked the food onto the floor, making Bella was stunned. “What have I done to upset you? Why are you doing this to me?” a Amber laughed, “What have you done to upset me? Your whole presence here is a mistake. You think you belong in Miller Manor? If I were you, I’d be too embarrassed to stay there. You’ve got some nerve.” Bella was furious but tried to stay calm. “Please leave. This is a hospital. Your issues with Dominic are your own. I know you’re angry, but don’t take it out on me.” Amber stood there, arms crossed, looking down at Bella. “Angry? Don’t waste your time. We’re not in the same league for me to be angry at you. I’m here because you’re annoying “I thought my two and a half years trying to get Dominic to love me was my fault, but now I see it’s because of you. All my efforts were useless because of you. Don’t you think I should take it out on you?” Bella was confused and angry. She didn’t even know Dominic and Amber were together before; why was this her problem? Ignoring Amber, Bella pulled out her phone to order more food. Amber, now clearly upset at being ignored, spat out, “Your mother was a homewrecker, and you’re no saint either. Stop pretending to be so innocent. Stay away from Dominic!” Bella couldn’t take it anymore. She suddenly stood up and slapped Amber across the face. “Shut up!” Ian, who had just arrived at the door, was stunned by the scene. As Amber prepared to retaliate, he quickly stepped in and grabbed her. “Let’s calm down and talk this out. There’s no need for fighting…” Amber, her face red and stinging from Bella’s slap, was furious. “Are you blind? She hit me! Ian, let me go!” Bella, clearly angry, said, “Ian, don’t get involved. If Amber wants trouble, let her have it. I’m not going to just take her insults about my mother. If my presence bothers her, too bad. She’ll have plenty of time to be unhappy in the future!” Ian, surprised by Bella’s fierce outburst, struggled to hold Amber back. It took a few others to help drag Amber away. Outside the hospital, Amber glared at Ian, her face swelling from the slap. “Are you crazy? Why did you stop me?” Ian replied calmly, “I’m not the crazy one. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t keep picking fights with Bella. A smart person would find a better way to handle things.” Amber raised an eyebrow. “What are you implying?” 

Chapter 96 More Than Family  Bella tried to stay mad, but it didn’t work. Her hands were stuck, and she couldn’t move. Back in the apartment, Bella stood by the window and looked down. Seeing his car still there made her heart race. Why was he still hanging around? Why was he acting so strange? Why couldn’t he just be the same as before? Why did he have to spark even the smallest hope in her heart, which had already turned cold? Hy A y Early the next morning, Bella was jolted awake by Lia’s loud yelling. She hadn’t slept well and had dark circles under her eyes. “What’s going on? Can’t I get ten more minutes of sleep?” Lia shook her awake and shoved her phone in her face. “Wake up and look at this!” Blinking groggily, Bella saw a notification for a large transfer on the phone. “What’s this? Did someone send you money?” Lia said, “It’s from Dominic! He even sent me a message saying thanks for taking care of you. It’s like he’s treating you like family–no, more than family. And you still think he doesn’t care? 500 thousand should last you for years!” Bella’s sleepiness vanished. “He sent the money? You need to send it back. I can take care of myself…” Lia looked frustrated. “I want to return it, but he said not to. If he’s being this generous now, who knows what he’ll send next–maybe a house?” Bella rolled her eyes. “Forget it. Just keep the money and use it. I’m going to work. I’m exhausted…” At the hospital, Bella couldn’t stop feeling uneasy about the money Dominic had sent. Was he trying to make up for not letting her go back to Miller Manor? He didn’t need to. The manor was his place, and she chose to leave. Just because she had lived there for years didn’t mean she had any right to stay. Dominic didn’t owe her anything. After her morning work, Bella was too tired to go out for lunch, so she ordered takeout. While she was unpacking her food, she heard the click of high heels and smelled Amber’s strong perfume coming into the office. Bella frowned and thought, “What’s she doing here now?”

Dominic stood outside and said, “Come with me.” Bella thought it might be awkward for him to come into Lia’s place late at night, so she agreed and followed him to his car. Once they were in the car, Bella said, “The car is badly damaged. I can’t afford to fix it, so just have it towed.” Dominic closed his eyes for a moment and said, “Do you think I came here just to talk about the car?” Bella asked, “Then what is it about?” He looked at her and said, “You seem tougher than I thought. I’ll have the car towed and send you a new one.” To my m wanwh M by j k l 17 Bella quickly replied, “No, thanks. I’m worried Amber might come after me again. She said next time, she’ll make sure I don’t survive. I don’t want to be caught up in your problems. I thought you were better at handling things, but this time, it’s a mess.” Hearing Bella’s attempt to pull away, Dominic’s face grew cold. “What happened to the way you used to feel about me? Are you really that scared of Amber? Seems like your feelings don’t mean much if you’re ready to just forget about them.” Bella’s anger erupted. “I loved you obsessively, but did you ever give me any hope? When you refuse to respond, what am I supposed to do but give up? I admit my feelings are cheap, not worthy of you. Amber is perfect for you–just marry her already!” She tried to leave the car, but Dominic grabbed her and pulled her back, holding her firmly in place. She struggled but couldn’t get free. S Her chest heaved with anger and surprise. “What is this? First, Amber bullies me, and now you’re here in the middle of the night making things worse? What do you want from me? I’ve moved out of the way to avoid being a problem. Just leave me alone!” Dominic leaned in, his face inches from hers. “No.” Then he kissed her, his lips soft against hers.

Chapter 94 Difficult Ian felt uneasy but tried to stay calm. He said, “Yes, Bella works here. She just stopped by for a moment. Why do you want to know? Amber’s expression turned cold. “I can accept that Dominic might not love me, but saying?” Ian tilted his head, playing dumb. “Not quite. What do you mean?” N cept that he might not love me because of another woman. Do you get what I’m Amber stood up, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “Don’t play coy with me. I’m not here to waste your time. I’ll leave you to your work.”  As she left, Ian grabbed his phone, about to call Dominic. But Amber came back, smiling mischievously. “Calling Dominic won’t do any good. I’m genuinely furious now. It feels like he’s been toying with my feelings.” Ian hung up the phone, sweating. Despite years of dealing with women, he had never encountered one as difficult as Amber. Later that evening, Bella was driving Dominic’s car to Lia’s studio. It was far from the hospital, so driving was easier. On the way, she saw Amber’s pink Porsche in her rearview mirror. It made Bella feel nervous, though she didn’t know why. No matter how Bella tried to avoid Amber, the Porsche stayed close behind her, getting nearer and nearer. Fuming with anger, she got out of her car and walked up to Amber’s. She knocked on Amber’s window. Amber lazily rolled down the window and gave Bella a challenging look. She didn’t say anything, but her stare was full of arrogance. Bella kept her cool and said, “You just hit my car!” Amber smirked coldly. “This car belongs to Dominic. That’s why I hit you.” Bella took a deep breath and said, “What you did is against the law. This is assault!” Amber shrugged and said, “Are you serious? If I see you driving his car again, I’ll crash into you. Next time, whether you’re alive or not is up to luck.” With that, Amber turned her car around and drove away. Bella stared at her damaged car, feeling really angry. What was Amber trying to do with this mess?  Instead of calling Dominic, she decided to call Ian. When he answered, she said, “Tell Dominic that Amber crashed his car. I’m the one who got hit, not her. And let Amber know to stay away from me, or I’ll call the police!” Ian was surprised. Before he could ask more, Bella hung up. Later that night, Bella and Lia were suddenly woken up by a loud banging on the door. Lia, in her pajamas and half–asleep, grabbed a baseball bat for protection. When she saw it was Dominic at the door, she quickly hid the bat behind her, annoyed and wide awake. “What are you doing here in the middle of the night? You’re knocking like you’re trying to break in!”

Chapter 93 A Silent Showdown After wrestling with her thoughts for 20 minutes, Bella finally caved. She took a cup of coffee and went to Ian’s office. When she got there, he was busy with paperwork, so she waited at the door for him to finish. When Ian looked up and saw her, he didn’t seem surprised. He put his papers aside and said, “Come in.” Bella placed the coffee on his desk. “When did it start?” Ian smirked a little. “You’re curious, but pretending you don’t care. You probably already figured it out–it started while he was abroad. About six months after he left, they broke up right before he came back.” Bella did the math. Dominic was gone for three years, which meant he and Amber were together for two and a half. Two and a half years wasn’t as long as the nearly 20 years she’d spent with him, but Amber had been his girlfriend- already won. This talk made Bella feel worse, just like she’d feared. As she walked out of Ian’s office with her head down, she was hit by a strong perfume and the sharp sound of high heels clicking on the floor.  Bella’s hand clenched in her coat pocket, and she slowed down. The perfume was unmistakable–Amber’s. When she looked up, she saw Amber staring at her with a confident and smug expression. They locked eyes, and it felt like a silent showdown. Bella noticed Amber was a bit taller, with a curvy figure and dressed boldly. Her face was stunning, like a movie star. Amber’s hair was exactly like Bella’s used to be–long, straight, and silky, with not a strand out of place, and she had no bangs. Had Amber kept that glossy hair for Dominic? Had he ever run his fingers through it, showing the same kind of affection he once showed Bella? When Amber walked into his office, Ian felt a headache coming on. He forced a smile and said, “Amber, you’re a surprise. This place isn’t really for healthy people.” Amber, unfazed, sat down in a chair with her legs crossed. Her long legs and smooth, pale feet looked striking. With a charming smile, she asked, “Was that Bella Jones who just left?”

Chapter 92 Your Home  Bella was feeling really frustrated, and she couldn’t figure out how to deal with it. She didn’t want to see Dominic at all. She asked Lia to drive her in her old, beat–up car. If she had used the fancy car Dominic gave her, it would have felt like giving in. Bella didn’t care about winning an argument with Dominic; she just wanted to avoid him. Lia had trouble starting her old car, but she finally managed to get it going. “You really think this old thing can outrun his car? It’s like comparing a cheetah to a stray dog. Actually, this car is more like a bunny.”  Bella didn’t say anything, just waved for Lia to keep going. A mile down the road, Dominic’s car pulled up and blocked them. Lia was scared and anxious. “What if we had crashed into him? Who would be responsible?” Bella, frustrated, replied, “It would be his fault. If we had crashed, he’d have to pay for the damage. He’s got plenty of money.” Lia went quiet.  The two cars sat there, neither moving. After ten minutes, Lia, tired and hungry, yawned and said, “What’s he waiting for? I’m beat. You should go talk to him and tell him off. I’ve got your back!” Bella knew sitting there wasn’t going to help, so she called Dominic. Dominic saw her through his windshield and answered the phone, “Why aren’t you coming home?” Bella replied, “That’s your home.” Dominic was quiet for a moment, then said coldly, “Do whatever you want.” He hung up and drove away, disappearing down the road. Lia was confused. “What happened? What’s going on with you two?” Bella, feeling drained, said, “It’s nothing. Let’s go back. I might stay at your place for a while.” The next morning, Bella woke up in Lia’s apartment and felt a bit sad because everything was so unfamiliar. Dominic had always told her she had to come home every night, so even though she was close to Lia, she had never stayed there before. Lia had already gone to work and left Bella the spare keys and some food. Bella got up, opened the curtains, and checked her phone. There were no messages or missed calls. She thought about the car and high heels she had seen at the Miller manor the night before and felt uneasy. She put her phone aside and went to get ready. At the hospital, she saw Ian. They usually just nodded I to each other, but today, he looked like he wanted to say something. Bella tried to avoid him because she didn’t want to hear about Amber. She wasn’t ready for that yet. She walked into her office and sat down. Ian followed her in. Rubbing her temples, she said quietly, “I have a lot to do today–two surgeries later, and I need to get ready. Do you need something?”  Ian looked at her for a moment and said, “If you don’t want to hear what I have to say, I won’t tell you. But if you want to know anything, just ask.” Bella just hummed in response and thought there wasn’t much point in asking. Dominic had already brought someone else home. What was the use? After her surgeries, it was already 2:00 pm. Bella ate some bland takeout, which filled her stomach but didn’t sit well with her. Annoyed, she threw the half–eaten food in the trash. A nagging voice in her head told her to talk to Ian. She was curious about Dominic and Amber, and the urge to find out more was getting stronger.  

Chapter 91 Homeless  Bella stood by the entrance, not sure if she should go inside, until Sylvia noticed her. “Ms. Jones, why are you standing out here?” Bella, feeling anxious, quickly shook her head. “I just remembered something I needed to handle at the hospital. I’ll be on duty tonight, so I won’t be coming back. Can you tell Dominic for me? I have to leave now.”  Before Sylvia could say anything, Bella had already turned and walked away. When she got back to the hospital, a nurse looked surprised. “Dr. Jones, didn’t you already clock out? Are you volunteering for extra work? You’re really dedicated!” Bella couldn’t admit that she had nowhere else to go, so she forced a smile and said, “A patient mentioned they might come in late… I’m just waiting to see if they show up.” As the night went on, more and more people asked why she was still at the hospital. Even though they were just being friendly, it made her feel even more uncomfortable, like she didn’t belong anywhere.  Bella couldn’t face going home, and hanging around the hospital felt awkward, so she decided to drive to Lia’s place. Having a friend like Lia kept her from feeling completely alone.  Lia’s studio was slammed with a big project, and she was working late. With just a few people on her team, they were all exhausted from the workload. Seeing how tired Lia was, Bella didn’t want to bother her with her own problems. She just sat quietly, looking at the beautiful wooden carvings around the studio. Lia took a quick break to drink some water and vented to Bella, “I don’t know who ordered this huge project, but they picked the hardest carving style possible. “I’m not even thinking about the money anymore–it’s draining me! If it wasn’t for my studio’s reputation, I’d just use a machine to do it. My hands are a mess!” Bella felt for her. “Didn’t you meet the client when you signed the contract?” Lia shook her head. “No, I never met them. They sent an assistant who looked like bad news. If I’d met the client, I probably wouldn’t have taken the job. It’s the most expensive and complicated carving we’ve ever done, and it’s taken up all our time for the last three months.”  Bella tried to reassure her friend, “Don’t worry. I’m here to make sure you don’t overwork yourself. You just focus on your work, and I’ll handle everything else.” Lia chuckled, though she seemed half–annoyed, “Are you guarding me? Or did you just come here because you had another fight with Dominic?” Lia always seemed to know what was going on with Bella. She stayed quiet, which made Lia’s concern grow. “Did I guess right? What happened this time?” Bella shook her head. “It’s nothing. Just keep working. I’ll stay over at your place tonight.” Seeing Bella’s mood, Lia decided not to push further and went back to her tasks. By 11:00 pm, when the other workers had left and the studio was quiet, Lia wrapped up her work. “Let’s go. If Dominic’s being a pain, you’re welcome to stay with me.” Bella tried to laugh but couldn’t. “Stop joking. I’m so tired–let’s just go home and get some rest.‘ As Lia locked the door, she muttered something under her breath about Dominic, “I’m not joking. You know exactly what kind of person Dominic is. Even if you don’t say it, it’s written all over your face that he’s upset you again. I swear, I just want to…” Lia’s voice trailed off as she suddenly spotted a black Rolls–Royce parked outside. She froze and pressed herself against the door. “Oh my gosh! When did he get here?” Bella’s heart raced. It was definitely Dominic’s car. Why was he here? She had told Sylvia she wouldn’t be coming home that night.

Chapter 90 HETI Bella had been too drunk last night to remember anything, but now she was completely awake. Dominic’s touches were making her shiver with excitement. Even though she was conflicted inside, she couldn’t resist him. She was always serious and stubborn. He was the first person she ever liked, and no matter how many problems she faced, her feelings for him stayed the same. Seeing ham made her happy, and even though she tried to act like it didn’t matter, she could tool everyone but herself. As his kiss moved to other places, he cubbed her wrists and gently bit her inner arm. When he saw her dazed look, his deep eyes softened Then, the sound of his phone ringing broke the mood. Dominic looked annoyed. He didn’t want to pick up, but the phone kept ringing Bella said quietly, “You should answer the phone.. After being with Dominic for years, Bella had no idea he’d ever had a relationship before. She could guess that a man like him would never be short of female attention, but she had never seen him with anyone The orly time she was completely in the dark was during his three years abroad. The fact that call from his ex could make him leave her so quickly and stay out all night meant this ex must have been very important to him. Bella laughed at herself. Last night was their first real moment together, and she was starting to let her feelings take over, only to realize now that he might have just been playing After work, Bella came home and saw a new car in the garage–a pak Porsche with flashymodifications.  Inside the house, she found a pair of elegant high heeled shoes by the door, and the air smelled like an unfamiliar woman’s perfume. The name Amber Yates popped into her head. This was the first time Domine had brought another woman home.
