Chapter 2
Raymond didn’t say anything for a few moments, then his voice softened. all of a sudden.
“Don’t make a fuss, honey. This client is super important.”
We knew each other too well. I had always been the observant one.
Back then, when his secretary stared at him many times, I could tell what she thought right away.
Raymond had her transferred to another branch the very next day. He cupped my face and said,
“Your eyes are so sharp. I wouldn’t dare pull any tricks on you.
“I promise–I’ll always make you feel secure.”
Now, as I looked through the glass into the private room, I saw him gently serving food to Minnie.
His wedding ring? Nowhere in sight.
I whispered, “Raymond, you know I can’t tolerate the slightest.
wrongdoing.”
He went quiet again.
Right as he was about to say something, I heard Minnie’s voice calling sweetly, “Ray, my parents are waiting for you.”
He rushed to end the call.

Then, he hung up. The dial tone hit like a slap. I tried calling back, but his phone was already off.
Alice kept sending me updates from the security cameras.
“Looks like Raymond has won her parents over. No idea if it was money or something else that did the trick.
“They’re planning her college farewell party for early next month.
“By the looks of it, he’s already locked in as the future son–in–law.”
That was it. The last bit of hesitation I had completely disappeared.
I told Alice we’d stick to the original plan.
Before today, I was still torn about our relationship. But Raymond chose for me with his actions.
I threw myself into divorce preparation. I started liquidating joint assets. and selling our shares at a discount.
Soon, Raymond and Minnie were off to Hawaii for a diving trip, and both shared photos on Instagram of them holding hands on a speedboat.
While he was doing that, I signed a new client deal.
I removed Raymond’s name from every project and made it clear I’d be going solo from here on out.
He got busy helping Minnie with college applications, dorms, and living expenses. He even tapped into the same connections we used to share.
Meanwhile, I got a new place and moved everything out.
He’d already hired a high–end design crew to plan Minnie’s big college send–off party. It was going to be over–the–top.
Chapter 2
On my moving day, he unexpectedly came home to grab some documents.
Looking at the half–empty walk–in closet and living room, he frowned.
“Honey, what’s going on?”
