With a sly grin, he said, “15 million dollars.”
Seeing how determined Cristofer was, Maryanne wondered if he knew the secret of the painting too.
Her face was unreadable, but she didn’t look at Cristofer.
Without hesitation, Stefanie raised her paddle. “30 million dollars.”
Cristofer frowned. Who was this lady?
She just bid 15 million dollars more.
She was really something.
Cristofer’s expression grew darker, but inside, he was puzzled.
Every item at tonight’s auction had some big secret, and he didn’t want to miss out on this painting.
Latoya thought a painting couldn’t be worth that much, so she tried to talk Cristofer out of it. “Cris, it’s just a painting. It’s not worth that much.”
She didn’t see anything special about it.
Cristofer’s face was cold, brows furrowed.
He felt like he had seen this painting somewhere before, but he couldn’t place it.
It felt oddly familiar.

The auctioneer was surprised that a regular landscape painting could go for 30 million dollars, and he got even more excited.
“30 million dollars once… 30 million dollars three times.”
After the auctioneer spoke, no one kept bidding.
Maryanne sneered. She had thought too highly of Cristofer, thinking he knew the secret of the painting.
The auctioneer happily announced the result. “Congratulations to bidder No. 27 on securing the Massif Landscape.”
Esteban was the happiest of all. He had found it at a flea market for just 350 dollars, and it had sold for 30 million dollars.
He was planning to have a great night out
Little did he know that the painting was worth tens of billions.
When he found out later, he kicked himself with regret.
Maryanne breathed a quiet sigh of relief. This painting didn’t show up here by chance.
“Timothy, I won’t let your death be in vain,” she thought, her eyes heavy with pain.
The next item was an ancient vase. Maryanne glanced at it, then at the smug Esteban, and a sly smile crept onto her lips. He was toast.
A few minutes later, the vast was snapped up by a rich bidder for 15 million dollars.
Finally, the big–ticket item, the purple diamond, made its appearance and grabbed everyone’s attention.

Maryanne looked at the diamond. It was big, set in a glass tube.
It was real, but it wasn’t anything extraordinary. Why was Theron so fixated on it?
Among tonight’s auction items, the Massif Landscape was worth 30 million dollars. Maryanne had been hunting for it for six years.
Now it popped up in front of her out of the blue. Was it a setup or a crazy coincidence?
The auctioneer said excitedly, “This is the grand finale of the night, a pure purple diamond from the Wynmis Mountains. The starting bid is 7.5 million dollars, and there’s no limit.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the room was filled with gasps and
murmurs.
Esteban grinned from ear to ear. He sat casually, but it made him look even more charming.
“Cris, you came for this diamond. How much we make tonight is all on you.”
Esteban glanced at Maryanne, who was sitting there quietly. She
seemed to be here for the diamond too. Watching the former couple go at it was too much fun.
Cristofer looked at the diamond and commented, “It’s not bad.”
But his eyes shifted to Maryanne next to him. She still looked cold, but she felt different. Since they split up, she seemed even colder, more beautiful, but also more distant.
His fists clenched on their own. After their divorce, he thought she’d go back to her old town, but instead, she hooked up with Leandro.

Esteban joked, “Cris, you’re going all out for Toya. Looks like you’ve found your one and only.”
His voice was loud enough for Maryanne to catch.
Her face didn’t show anything, but inside, she felt a pang. So Cristofer was bidding on the purple diamond for Latoya.
Esteban glanced at Maryanne’s calm but incredibly striking face. He was a bit disappointed that she still had that same indifferent look- boring as hell.
Latoya was surprised. Was Cristofer gonna give her the purple diamond?
That’d be awesome! It’d totally blind Maryanne with jealousy!
Cristofer’s eyes flickered, but he kept quiet. The bidding had hit 30 million dollars.
Esteban looked at Cristofer excitedly. “Cris, it’s your turn now.‘
