Blood kept pouring from Jocelyn’s mouth. When she saw Winifred, whom she had also pushed into the pit, she grinned and burst out laughing
“You’re all going to die! Every last one of you! And soon, Sienna will be joining you too. There’s only one way out, and I’ve planted bombs there. Bombs” Jocelyn shouted, her voice echoing with manic glee.
Jocelyn threw her head back and laughed, wild and crazed with triumph.
Winifred was nimble enough that the fall didn’t really hurt her, but with a pit this deep, there was nothing she could do about it.
Hearing that, Winifred was so furious her eyes turned red
“Getpp,” she said, pulling Amber up from the ground, only to realize Amber had twisted her ankle.
“Who are you! Don’t touch met Help! Sis Amber cried out in panic.
Amber was already caked in mud, so much that she couldn’t even see what the person in front of her looked like.
“Shut up already, you’re driving me crazy. It’s me. Winifred snapped, her face icy cold.
Amber thought to herself, This little scaredy cat only got caught up in this mess because of me. No way am I letting her die here.
Amber sniffled, sensing the person in front of her didn’t really mean any harm. She asked in confusion, “Who are your”
Winifred only demanded, “Let me see your foot
Amber shrank back. “You still haven’t told me who you are! I don’t even know you, so stay away from me,”
Winifred was speechless. With a brain like that, no wonder Jocelyn Turner could use her. Serves her right, she thought.
“Why don’t you tell me who you think I am? Winifred shot her a frosty glare.

Winifred was speechless again, hardly keeping herself together,
But hearing Amber gasp in pain, Winifred could only sigh and crouch down beside her. Rain kept pouring down on them, soaking them to the bone, and was already pooling around their ankles.
“Hey! What are you doing? Don’t touch me! Do you even know who I am? My sister is super powerful–if you hurt me, she’ll make you pay!” Amber blurted out, her voice trembling with panic and a hint of bravado.
Winifred shot back with a cold sneer, “Isn’t that your sister up there?”
Amber snapped. “She is not my sister!”
Winifred let out a mocking laugh. “Your ankle’s twisted. If you don’t want to die here, lift it up and let me take a look” “Who ar
are you, really, Amber demanded, her voice trembling with confusion.
Winifred lost her patience. She suddenly stood up, pinched Amber’s check hard, and snapped, “Amber, are you an idiot! you seriously can’t even recognize me? Fine, maybe you’ll recognize this!” She let the snake in her hand loose
Amber screamed her head off. “There’s a snake! A snakel Wait–it’s you, Winifred! Are you crazy or something? Hurry up and get that thing away from me! Now!”
Winifred just snorted and stopped messing with her. Amber, still shaken, clutched her chest and gulped for air, feeling like she’d just dodged death
“You’re Winifred! All these years, I thought you wereilead. So you actually made it, Amber blurted out, saying exactly what was on her mind. Winifred rolled her eyes. “If I were dead, there’d be no one here to save your sorry ass
Amber’s eyes went wide in disbelief. “You canic to save me? How? Aren’t you stuck down here, too? If you were really here to rescue ine, would I still be trapped in this pit? Face it, you’re just as uselen–you got kidnapped by Jocelyn, toot”
Winifred was so mad that she felt like she was losing her mind “Amber, you really are an idiot, I have no idea how someone as dumb as you managed to survive eighteen years”
