Chapter 25
After that day, Alpha Floyd started using business trips as an excuse to stay away from home. Each time he left, he stayed gone a little longer, his presence at the house slowly fading.

With the Alpha constantly away, Monica treated the place like her own personal playground. She spent her days lounging at high–end spas or getting her hair and nails done, basking in luxury.
With no one to keep them in check, Leon and Yolanda were left to fend for themselves. Monica, always scheming, saw an opportunity. To win their trust, she began letting them skip school, whisking them off on “fun days” instead. At first, it was once in a while. Then it became a habit. Eventually, the two stopped. going to school entirely, hiding out in the forest trails or hanging around town in secret.
When the pack’s housekeeper mentioned it, Monica barely batted an eye.
“Ms. Monica,” the woman said hesitantly, “the young master and miss have been skipping school a lot lately. Their teacher called and asked if you and Alpha Floyd could be more involved. The kids don’t listen to us servants… maybe if you spoke to them–just to get them back to class.”
Reclining in her beauty chair, Monica admired the glossy finish on her fresh claws and sighed.
dramatically.

“Alright, I’ll handle it,” she said lazily, not even lifting her head. “No need to bother Floyd. He’s Alpha. He’s got more important things to do.”
She hung up, then let out a soft laugh.
One of her pampered friends, draped across
the chaise beside her, looked over with a smirk. “Seriously? You’re going to deal with those little. monsters? I told you–marrying a rich Alpha is all fun and games until you inherit his pups.”
Monica gave a slow, catlike yawn and stretched.
“Who said I was going to deal with them?” she said, “Honestly, I’d prefer if they grew up spoiled and useless. Makes it easier for my future cubs to inherit the pack’s wealth without
a fight.”
She picked up her phone and dialed the
children’s homeroom teacher.
“Hi, this is Luna Monica. Just wanted to let you know the kids won’t be attending school. for a while–something came up at home. No need to worry, though. Given our situation, they don’t really need to stress too much about school right now.”

She paused, then added sweetly, “Also, Alpha Floyd’s incredibly busy. If anything comes up, contact me directly. There’s no need to involve
him.”
Once the call ended, Monica leaned back with a satisfied sigh and waved the whole matter from her mind like a puff of dust.
That evening, after her treatments, she returned to the pack house unexpectedly.
The moment she stepped inside, she was greeted by the chaotic sounds of pups at play.. Leon and Yolanda were chasing each other. through the living room, the floor littered with toys and snack wrappers. As soon as they spotted her, they rushed over.
“Monica Auntie! You’re back! We missed you!” they shouted, throwing their arms around her.
But the warmth they were expecting wasn’t
there.
The woman who once gave them sugary smiles. and treats now looked down at them with icy
detachment.
“I know, I know,” she muttered, brushing them.

off with a flick of her manicured hand. “I’ve got things to do. Go play on your own.”
Leon blinked at her, confused. He was used to her acting sweet, pampering them like some doting stepmother–in–waiting. His little brow furrowed in frustration, and he threw his toy to
the floor.
“No! You have to play with us!” he shouted.
But Monica’s expression darkened. Her eyes, once filled with artificial warmth, turned cold
and sharp.
“What did you just say?” Her voice was low and dangerous. “Who do you think you’re yelling
at?”
She stepped closer, looming over the children.
“I’m about to become your father’s mate- his Luna. The new mistress of this house,” she said, her voice as smooth and deadly as silk–wrapped steel. “Your pathetic mother is out of the picture, and soon, your father won’t want you around either.”
The two children stood frozen, the playful sparkle gone from their eyes. They clung to

each other in stunned silence, too afraid to cry.
Where was the smug arrogance they’d had when they tormented Jillian? It had vanished, swallowed by the she–wolf’s venomous glare.
“You’d better learn this fast,” Monica sneered,
her voice laced with threat. “From now on, everything in this house will be done my way. If you scream at me again, don’t blame me for what happens next.
With that, she gave them one last icy look and swept up the stairs, her heels clicking sharply against the hardwood.
